We visited this fort which could be a great point of history. Sadly the place is not well maintained with brooms, ladders and dustbins standing out in the open. I am sure it would look much better if they could put the gardening equipment away...More
Fortaleza is a restored fort at the fishing port. It's one of Maputo’s oldest buildings. Artist displays recreate the history of the fort and the lives of indigenous people during the Portuguese takeover before and after independence. Views of the city and Maputo Bay are...More
Very well cared for, this Museum has interesting information and events like fairs, music, food & drinks.

Otherwise it’s just another fort. It helps to get the history. The museum contains a history of Mozambique illustrated with models. Best enjoyed with a local guide. There’s an interesting tree alongside the path to the gate which has phallic shaped fruit. Ask your guide...More
This is an old Portuguese Fort down by the waterfront. It is only MTM20 to go in. There is not much to see in terms of exhibits but there are some old statues and cannons in good condition.
The small historic old Portuguese fort is not much to look at, but worth to be included in your Baixa tour.
I enjoyed the Fort and the exhibitions that were running at the time . we spent an hour there and felt that was plenty of time ,imteresting statues and old cannons and military pieces
Interesting place to visit and to escape from ugly downtown maputo. De entrance fee is only 20 mzn. I especially liked the history of mozambique carved in small wooden figures.
