Start from port louis, the trek is about 3500 meters. The path gives you feel of a real natural mountain climb, as you'll find the bushes and plants overgrown and sometimes you'll have to make way for yourself. I'd recommend to start early in the morning. Besides that its a fun trek. But careful its not the faint-hearted. The top... More

Thumbs up for those who make it up the green slopes and enjoy breathtaking views over the Island. Bring water, wear good shoes and never try the last slipery bit on a rainy day!

The name means thumb, because the peak looks like a thumb up. You can immerse yourself through a hike starting from Port Louis and finishing in Moka or simply gaze a it's beautiful greenry from a distance.

We hiked this mountain 3 times and reckon the best route was from the other side of the mountain and the Port Louis side. Its a great hike.

As the most recognisable 'thumb shaped' peak behind Port Loius it looked like a good place to take a hike . The trail head was a little tricky to find but having done so we set off along a litter strewn path along a track that was overgrown & poorly maintained. There are good views on the climb up but... It's the close by mountain that is nice to see and have panoramic views close to sunset. Avoid on weekends and rainy days

Le Pouce mountain is the third highest one in Mauritius. Its height is 812 meters. Its name derives from the peculiar shape of its peak reminding that of a thumb. It can be seen from Port Louis, and from its top there is a fantastic panoramic scene of that city. That’s one of the reasons why it’s a popular hike... More

So, the views were amazing but getting up and down was not easy. I am relatively fit but not that confident about climbing/scrambling - particularly coming downhill. There had been a fair bit of rain the day preceding our ascent and I didn't realise that the terrain was going to be mud over rocks so this particularly slippy. However, my... More

One of the best place in Port Louis for some healthy walking. If you manage to get to the top, there is a surprising panoramic scene that is waiting for you. Highly recommend this place for landscape and cityscape photographers.
