Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lot of clothes from traditional to used western, fruits, accessory, kitchen tools, electronic stuff, etc.
欧米からの古着が大量に無造作に置かれていた。モーリタニアという国でどんな日用品が売られているのか、買いに来ている1人など興味深い。

This is a place meant for the locals to do their shopping, hence it is crowded. I visited the place during Ramadan, adding more pressure for the festival shopping.
If you are looking for chinese goods to local stuff, this is the market to visit.
Dont expect comfortable shopping, but you could actually ending up having a good bargain, if you have decided to buy.
Knowing Arabic would certainly help.
I was here more on a curious trip than to do any buying

It is really not worth going there. Nothing to see and nothing to buy or do. Just skip it. It is really a big chaos

Nouakchott does not have much to offer , so you probably should go and visit 'Marché Capitale' .
But don't expect too much : you most surely will find nothing of interest to buy - but you get a glimpse of eveydaylife in Mauretania .

You will find many things available in Mauritania at marche capitale. But I have to admit it is not my favorite place for shopping. If you just have time for one visit to a market skip this one and go to marche cinquieme.

A little further, we had the pleasure of discovering the Capital Market, renowned as the most important in Nouakchott. As soon as we arrived, an abundance of items were revealed, from brass teapots and silver jewelry to traditional wooden boxes and colorful fabrics.
We happily got lost in this labyrinth of colors, crowds and various products offered by the Marché Capitale. From time to time, we were asked to take photos, and the effect of the Mauritania football jersey was particularly striking. Margot was also a star of the moment, enthusiastically dressed by some locals in their traditional fabrics.
French is used everywhere, sometimes with approximation, like this traveling "horegerie" who repairs and sells watches
