Visited for two days. Refreshing environment. Lush, green forest, plenty of wildlife. There are a number of circuits you can trek. Overnighted on the park grounds in the base camp in a building that looked like it's haunted. Bring your sleeping bag if you plan to overnight in the park, and plenty of food. We stacked on cookies and sardines... More

Our trip was organised by Cactus Tours Madagascar, Charlie was amazing. Our guide Edi was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a fantastic day. We were lucky enough to spot lemurs near the end of our stay. We also saw chameleons and geckos. The park is beautiful with lots of waterfalls and a nice lake. Definitely worth a visit but... More

We had a day off whilst working the area and decided to go here due to it being reasonably close to Antsiranana. The park is very nice and we had an excellent guide but didn't find any Lemurs. What he did find was numerous species of chameleon, geckos, birds and butterflies. I am probably being a bit harsh on my... More

We visited the park on a recent trip to Madagascar hoping to catch our first glimpse of lemur. We weren't disappointed seeing Sanford Brown lemur group. They weren't easy to photograph in the trees. We saw loads of chameleon, a boa constrictor, spiders, gecko and loads of birds specific to this area. There have been a couple of attacks on... More

The chameleons in this park are amazing. Try and get your guide to take you off the beaten path, and don't bother going all the way to the big waterfall - just go the first km or so (before the eucalypt and pine appears).

I believe Amber Mountain is overrated. Inside the park there is a very limited wildlife and nothing really worth spending time on. Yes you can see the smallest chameleon in the world (Brookesia) but not IN the park but NEARBY the park. At least this is where our guide took us. If you are in rush, skip this National Park... Our tour group arrived at the park headquarters in a fleet of 4WDs. I gather the park gets several thousand visitors a year, but with 20 vehicles this was probably one of the larger groups they had seen. While it was dry (just) at the park headquarters, the rain closed in as we got further up the mountain. The 4WDs... More

We went on a four hour hike in Parc National de Montagne d'Ambre and it was a dry beautiful day. We hiked to the small waterfall and saw lots of birds and reptiles along the way. The trails are in great shape - most of them like a dirt road through the rainforest - best trails we saw in our... More

We are not far from the paradise... That enormous park will make everybody happy from the children's to the parents. But if I could give you an advice:you really have to take a guide because a lot of secrets are hidden in that magic forest, and he will tell you more about it...

We had a great 4 hour hike with Angelin who speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable. As well as finding us lemurs we saw chameleons and the amazing leaf geckos. Was fantastic to experience the rainforest and learn about the flora and fauna. Can be done as a day trip from Diego Suarez but we stayed over in Joffreville... More
