Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a fascinating part of Accra, but it can be not a little rough. Go with a local friend who knows the city. All that you can expect of a city. Think of New Your's Soho or its namesake in London.

It is always bustling with life, and can be fun to explore

If you want to get a feeling for the real Accra hit the back streets of Accra. Find a little pub/shebeen and get involved with the locals. Don't be shocked by the hole in the wall that is the latrine which runs into the open sewers and smells rather rank. The people are welcoming but keep your eyes open.

We were told that Osu was the place to go shopping in Accra. So, we got an Uber to Oxford Street in Osu. Apart from a Shoprite supermarket and a couple of market stalls, we didn't see much else, so got another Uber to take us to Makola market. That's where you need to go.

Osu is a real tourist nest: with it's art shops, hotels, amazing restaurant next to each other, a great mall and a myriad of shops where you get mostly everything. Don't come to Accra without passing through Osu. But brace up for quite some traffic and high cost of stuff, there's usually quite some traffic. Osu is both residential and business location is between the city centre and most business areas in Accra... it's much better to go through Osu walking....

I grew up in Osu Kuku hill, close to then Russian Cultural Centre. The places of interest are the Osu Night Market, the Castle, Independence Square, Oxford street, Regal Chinese Restaurant where authentic time immemorial Chinese food is served regularly and of course Frankie's.

Great spot, but beware of the artist named Kwabena Adjei, who tries to sell art and eventually becomes intimidating in collaboration with a child gang to give him huge amounts of money for art that impresses no one.
