Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Accra Zoo
Went there with my wife and would not recommend it. The animals are all looking poorly and miserable. There is no decent water stations or fountains for anyone. There is no access for people with disabilities. To crown that bad experience, on the way to the entrance via a 1.5 Km pothole filled road, I was rudely asked by horn blowing to make way for a forestry commission truck full of their staff. That’s how they treat their guests. Do not go there and waste your time and money.

This zoo is in the Achimota forest. The forest has been taken over by smaller church groups. The area needs serious attention. The only good thing about the Achimota forest is the fact that the girl guides has their meeting building there. The zoo is a "0" in my book. They need a lot of attention to bring this zoo up to a '5' in my opinion. Don't waste your time there. The zoo should be skipped until they get it to an acceptable international standard. Period.

This zoo is very interactive, and you are able to get up close and personal with the animals. The guides are very knowledgeable and helpful. The lion exhibit is especially amazing. You are very close to the lions, and they are active and interested in people.

though the zoo affords you the opportunity see some animals you usually wouldnt find around, the animals look thing and unhealthy perhaps due to lack of food. also, you usually wouldn't find zoo guides to take you round hence it makes your tour around the place less exciting and there aren't so many different kinds of animals at the zoo but hey its a zoo

The Accra Zoo is an interesting place. It has the potential to become one of Ghana top most tourist destinations.
From the entrance to the main zoo, the road is very dusty. Constructing the road and telling a story along the path to the gate will improve the experience.
The tour guides know their stuff and it increases the enjoyment and the interest.
Some few suggestions.
1. The Authorites should use social media to hype some activities like feeding the Loins 🦁 . Many people may be interested in seeing something like that.
2. They have to make some nicely designed tricycles for hiring. Maybe they can partner Kantanka and Knust to get some specialised Ghanain golf cart or tricycle to be used by children, the elderly and the physically challenged
3. A canopy walk across the Zoo wouldn't be a bad addition. They should partner some private investors to improve the experience.
All the same a good place for a family trip

Not a bad place at all.. it was a good opportunity for me to teach my nephew and nieces something new. If nothing at all, they've got few species that are not commonly seen outside. I just hope they get new species of animals to make the place look more interesting and also, educative. Please, a humble request, try and add some local names of the animals there

It may not be big yet but they have quite a number of different animals. Animals looked healthy and ok. Our guide was friendly and nice.
