Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was a nice boat ride on the Rusizi river, but be aware that you have to pay the price for the whole boat no matter the number of people. Although I understand that they have fixed costs associated with going out, I think it is overpriced if you are not at least 3 or 4 (25 per person). The boat trip was not that long (less than an hour) and they explain a bit, but quite minimal and they didn't seem too bothered to be on the lookout for animals. Did see a small crocodile and some hippos, but check up on which time during the day its best to go. I only saw the top of their heads in the water as it was afternoon and it was more breezy, apparently they stay under water as they don't like that. Would recommend if you have time and don't mind paying the price and interested in seeing the wildlife, but otherwise might skip.

It was really interesting and cheap. You can catch a boat at Club Du Lac at Kanjnyika lake. You will pay the hotel $40 for a boat ride that takes you through the lake to the river.

Did a boat tour on the River starting from the road to Gatumba. On the river banks you can see lots of Hippos and birds, the Congolese mountains in the back and then its pretty cool to see the red coloured river entering the blue waters of Lac Tanganjika. So far a perfect place for an excursion!
Unluckily the stuff was in a hurry and asked between 300 USD (Tourists) and 100 USD (foreign residents) for 40 min on the boat...Lot of bargaining...
We could have had a perfect day in the park, but ended up with just a glimps. If it is like this you can´t enjoy nature.

A nice quick outing for a couple of hours down the estuary to the lake. Beautiful colours and plenty of animal life. We were there on a windy day, which is good for seeing the birds, less so for the Hippo's it seems. Or else they were just shy. This park is very undeveloped in terms of tourism. Staff were friendly and responsive though. The boat is about 150,000 Burundi francs (80 Euros) for an hour which includes the 20 USD entry fee. Not cheap, but not very expensive either. The taxi back and forth from town was around 80,000 BF.

By pre-arrangement, a boat which holds about 8 is available for one-hour charter down the river and onto the Lake for under $100. Hippos, crocs, multitude of birds--well worth it!

The Ruzizi river runs from Lake Kivu in Bukavu to Lake Tanganyika, on the DRC/ Burundi border. It is very small and easy to organize from Bujumbura. You can pay a fee per personand walk/ drive or hire the boat for 100$ and go with a group. I have done this many times, but yesterday we were very Lucky in what we saw. Entire hipo families and important bird colonies. We left the Ruzizi delta and were on Lake Victoria. Probably not impressive if you're used to bigger game reserves in eastern or Southern Africa, but I love it.

In and along the Rusizi river you will find all kinds of birds but also crocodiles and hyppo's. Make trip on a safari jeep and with a boat on the river.

The trip of Rusizi was a waste of time. If you have enough money to waste then please waste somewhere else as wasting 25 USD just to see one Hippo that too from a long distance won't be fun.
