    Awesome rhino tracking experience!
I visited on a Saturday with five other American exchange students, and we did the Rhino Tracking. After just 30 minutes, our guides spotted rhino tracks and we got out of the truck to track down the rhinos on foot. There were four of them, not far from the road, and we watched/followed them for at least 45 minutes. We had a fantastic experience watching the rhinos, and we felt lucky to have encountered them so early in the day. We then had several hours left of the tour to ride around looking for other wildlife. We saw giraffes, impalas, a kudu, warthog, hippos, and lots of birds. Then there was a very well done picnic by a lake. The whole thing lasted four hours and was easily worth the P800 per person we paid. We will be back for giraffe tracking!

    Mokolodi game drive
Mokolodi Nature Reserve is home to various animals, including rhinos, giraffes, impalas, kudus, zebras, and more. The game drives provide excellent opportunities to see wildlife up close, making it a highlight for many visitors. Our guide, Benjamin, was particularly informative, sharing extra information about the animals we encountered, which enhanced the overall experience. This informative and engaging approach by guides like Benjamin adds significant value to the game drives

This is a must when in Botswana
Amazing, amazing experience. The person who took us on a game drive searched for the rhinos. We saw so many animals! The staff is so friendly and helpful, you get a panic button in case something happens. The spa has great massages and the restaurant is a must!

Mokolodi is a peaceful place to spend hours in nature. The restaurant is amazing and you can just sit and watch the animals or even an amazing sunset. So many things to do. The snake park and animal sanctuary is also a very impressive visit. Definitely the place to go to recharge your batteries and appreciate nature.

We spent a full day driving all of the roads, seeing very few animals (yes, including birds) but what bothered us the most was that the roads were so terrible that even in our Landrover it was bad. Even roads not indicated as 4x4 roads exclusively were effectively only good for 4x4, and it was a nice dry day. So bushy you cannot see an impala if it's 3 meters far... And we have driven all over Botswana so we can compare! We only saw 7 species of mammals and to drive yourself you need to buy a year permit of 700 pula. Seeing the cheetahs and reptiles costs extra.

I have spent New Years Eve at Mokolodi a few time now, love the peace and quiet and watching the sunset over the waterhole that the chalets overlook. There is plenty of animals to see. Its only a short drive to the restaurant if you don't fancy catering for your self. My family were out from the UK so we spent two very enjoyable nights there.

Exactly one year after the first time, we came here again since our year pass was coming to an end. This time we saw literally not one single mamal in the whole park! And again we couldn't believe that they mark SOME roads as 4x4 only. We drive a brand new Landrover and I can assure you you need a 4x4 for every single road in the park. And moreover they are so badly kept that you get scratches all over your car from branches and risk punctures at all the stony roads. And for what doing the trouble: there is nothing to see. We did hear the restaurant isn't bad but it was closed so we could not try that. But the "park" itself is rubish. Utterly rubish. Please note that I have written 2700 reviews here and there aren't many with a 1 dot note.....

I have been on other game rides – – Kruger in South Africa and the Masai Mara in Kenya among others. So those are game rides.; With that background, there is nothing to recommend this tow hour jaunt a half hour from Gaborone in Botswana. You drive through trees on a bumpy, rutted road in an old open air truck with no suspension, (anyone with back problems, like me, beware, it is painful), and see animals peeking out through the trees. They are abundant, but there are no wide open spaces with African vistas; just trees, impala, and giraffes, in that order.

If you've never done a game ride, and this is your only opportunity, then well, why not. But otherwise find something else to do.

Having said that, they do have a very nice restaurant on site which offers an extensive lunch menu outdoors.. So if you decide to do this, make sure you stay for lunch.

I was seriously dissatisfied, we asked for a chalet for 2 and then at the last minute they said the only availability was a chalet for 6 almost double the price 😡 we agreed as it had been along day .. supposedly the chalet had just been renovated…. Untrue, it was in serious need of a renovation and in the morning no water. Also the 2 person chalet stayed free … a shame it could be a loveyp’ace but it was a ripoff

We camped here on our final night in Botswana. We didn't do any game drives as such as needed to set up our camp, but we did see quite a few animals just going to the camp site area!
The staff at reception were just so so friendly and helpful. we had to have our covid tests printed and they sorted for us, and also had a connection at the labs, as one of our tests hadn't come through, and they called them, after hours to assist us. They really went out of the way to help us.

The campsite was clean and rustic. lovely stopover if you need to stay in Gaborone.

We had a lovely visit (with a vehicle to ourselves) accompanied by our lady game ranger. We didn't see as much as we had hoped but not for want of trying. Plenty of muti-varieties of deer, wart hogs, baboons, vultures, etc. It was lovely to get out in the African bush again, to hear the sounds - you are never sure what's around the next corner! Thank you for a great visit.
Very good value too. Your hotel will order a car for you and the driver will either wait or come back to collect you.
