- Geoffrey DGreater London, United Kingdom11 contributionsVictoria Falls - the smoke that thundersMosi-oa-Tunya is the Zimbabwe name for the Victoria Falls, which means 'the smoke that thunders'. Our visit was in the dry season, which means the water flow doesn't cover the full 1.7km width of the falls. Nevertheless, the obvious power and force of the VF is still incredibly impressive and justifies being one the 7 wonders of the world. The downside is the cost of visiting VF via Zimbabwe and Zambia. In addition to the cost of travel and hotels, you are required to pay on arrival at Zimbabwe airport a visa charge of UD$75pp, then US$50pp to enter the falls on the Zimbabwe side and a further US$20pp on the Zambia side, which for two of us was a total of US$290. If you choose to have a guide, you will need to employ one in each location. Having said all that, the once in a life time experience is very special and still worth the visit.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 15 December 2023
- Sandra BJohannesburg, South Africa10 contributionsThe mighty Victoria FallsThe Victoria Falls were on our bucket list and they did not disappoint. What a wonderful experience, so happy I was able to make the trip with my family. The falls are absolutely exquisite, from the rock formations, the multiple rainbows and rain forest. Photos don’t do it justice, it’s something you have to see for yourself.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 December 2023

It is just amazing, the sheer amount of water and power of it all. The view points provided are all stunning and we'll worth taking the time over. Guides available but perhaps not necessary, information boards also provided at the entrance. Awesome place and a must see.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 March 2024
- Richard BEdinburgh, United Kingdom5,239 contributionsVictorian ValuesAn awesome, inspiring experience that will overwhelm even the seasoned traveller. I had high expectations, however, didn't expect to be blown away. A visit should take about two hours with several viewing areas along the way for the all important pictures. Nobody seems to be disappointed with the falls themselves, however $50USD is a bit steep. That said, the parks department know they have a captive audience. It's the reason you are there. Still, a great experience.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 May 2024
- Oscar_RetrieverNewton, North Carolina333 contributionsA life time dream realizedSince I was a kid more than a half century ago, I wanted to see Victoria Falls. I finally did, and I was not disappointed. The national park on the Zimbabwe side has a cliff top trail that provides plenty of spectacular viewing opportunities for the falls and its many components. The immensity of the falls is so,etching that needs to be experienced first hand. A poncho is a must unless you want to get completely soaked to the skin (not necessarily a bad thing if it is very hot). There was a fair bit of natural shade available, and it wasn’t particularly hot when we were there. This is a sight that definitely should not be missed.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 June 2024
- Aussie_BinturongQueensland, Australia345 contributionsThe earlier the betterI got there just after opening time (6am) and enjoyed having just about the whole park to myself. One issue is that only a few of the toilet doors had locks that worked. When International visitors are paying 50USD ($75 AUD) entry you would think it wouldn't be unreasonable to spend some of those dollars on fixing the locks. The cleaning staff were doing a great job keeping the bathrooms clean and I'm sure they would appreciate functioning locks too. There is wifi at the cafe.Visited July 2024Travelled soloWritten 22 July 2024
- Sandypopey19 contributionsAbsolutely worth seeing!Stunning beauty. Beginning of September is "low water", but you can see more detail of the falls. Plenty of other things to do in the area. Very professional guides, shuttles and taxis, excellent restaurants. Try to give yourself 3 days at least.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 September 2024

We were staying at the Victoria falls Safari Lodge and used the free shuttle bus to Victoria Falls entrance (stop 4).
You do not need to purchase a rain mac from the vendors outside, what is the point? you're going to a waterfall, expect to get wet, it's part of the experience!
Where decent footwear, that does not mean flip flops, the area does get quite wet and you don't want to slip over the edge.
The entrance fee per person is a bit steep at $30 each and the service was slow with little communication as to what the lack of speed was about from the cashier.
Once inside, the site is well laid out with information points to explains each section.
At the end of the walk, continue down to view the bridge connecting Zimbabwe to Zambia border crossing.
At the Zimbabwe border, you can ask for a bridge pass that allows you to cross over to the Zambian border control, but if you haven't officially left Zimbabwe, you can not enter Zambia, obviously. All you do is take the long walk back to the Zimbabwean border control and hand in your free bridge pass.
The annoying thing is, as with other Countries, you can be hounded by the street traders who are relentless in pestering you on your journey.
You don't need a full day to explore it all leisurely but a good 5+ hours is required.

The Zambia side, in some ways its better than the Zim side as you can get up closer to the falls this side. It has a longer path alongside the falls, and the rainbow in the afternoon is amazing to look at, also its 10 bux cheaper than Zim side. You will get soaked if you go down to the path and across the bridge, no need to spend money on a rain jacket as getting soaked is part of the fun, just take a waterproof bag to put essentials in. I spent 5 hours in the park took a packed lunch with me and basically chilled watching and hearing the falls.

We were here in February of 2020.
We've heard alot about these falls, but nothing can describe them better than standing in front of them!!! There is an entrance fee (about US$20-30). Not sure how much, since we didn't have to pay. Please note the opening hours when planing to visit the falls:
Summer (1st September to 30th April) - Opens 6am and closes 6 pm
Winter (1st May to 31st August) - Opens 6:30am and closes 6 pm
The weather was not as good as we had hoped. So the pictures are not as good as we had wanted them to be.
Bring time with you when coming here. Also bring your rain gear (Poncho), as it can get very wet and windy (spray from the falls). You can rent a poncho from the dealers at the parking lot. Be careful, they say that you will get your money back, when you return the poncho, but that is not true!!!
There are several (about 15 or 16) points of view, all of which are spectacular.
Whenever we come back to Zimbabwe, we'll come back here for sure!!!

I expected more awesome views. Not at the same level as Iguazu Falls. Mainly due to the way the viewing points are set up. You are never close enough to actually look down to see the bottom of the falls. So all of your pictures are clipped views of the falls. Also, while we were recommended to go during the wet season (we went in April at peak flow), the dirty little secret to that is that the spray is so high it often either partly or fully obscures your view of the falls. If your dream is to see the falls from one end to the other, you will be disappointed. For $50/pp they should put some of that money into building trails out closer to the cliff edge with proper safety rails.

The first thing I want to say is that they charge $50 US per person to enter.
I think that is way too much ! There is no justification for it.
The falls are amazing, huge, loud, and breathtaking.
If you plan on visiting on your own rent a raincoat from the vendors on the other side of the street. Luckily our taxi driver suggested it and we listened to him.
Even with the raincoat we were soaked, the last 3 viewpoints were just solid mist that came down as a torrent of rain.
Then you get to the bridge and you turn back.

Even though the water flow in the falls are low they are still spectacular.
The walk along the path is very easy with great views of the falls and river below from the many vantage points.
It took my husband and I about 2 hours to do the Loop with many photo stops along the way.

Park entrance soared this year to $50 per person, no in/out, no multi-day pass and relatively short open hours. We were drenched starting at viewpoint 1 and couldn't get past #12 as we were unable to see anything through the torrential mists. Big disappointment since I'm a waterfall/hydro electric gal who visits these places around the world. The grounds were well maintained, good cafe and expensive gift shop. They take Visa for it all which is helpful to stop shelling out cash. It was muddy and slick in some places so dress appropriately. Overall, over hyped.

Even in October towards the end of the dry season the falls were stunning. The Zimbabwe side represent 75 per cent of the area of the falls and the largest individual
Water falls. It is busy in the mornings with tourist number lower around noon. The entrance to the National park is USD 30 for most foreign visitors. Take your time to enjoy and allow yourselves 2 hours to do a circuit.

This is a UNESCO site and also one of the largest waterfall in the world and certainly the largest in Africa. Whilst the waterfall is impressive especially with the rainbows over it, the forested pathways as well as the birdlife here are great as well.
It is best to visit early in the morning before the sun becomes to high up and also become the crowd comes in. Part of the long stretch of path could be wet due to the sprays from the fall.
A definite must visit.

The park grounds are beautiful and natural which is a plus. For any worries about the difficulty of the walk/hike, do not be. It’s a mild walk that takes no time at all. There are many viewpoints and all offer a slightly different perspective of the falls. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and maybe some that are water proof (this was my regret) as you will get wet. The falls are powerful and the mist is more like a heavy shower. It is about 30 dollars to get into the park but well worth it.

Please tell me how to book a waterfall full moon tour. Can I join by reservation on the day or the day before? How should I make a reservation? Where is my reservation?

Is it recommended to get a tour of the falls- or just wander around yourself?
Written 25 January 2019
We went with family and had no problems at all. You have to pay to get in anyway, so I would not pay even more for a guide. Opposite the entrance are some souvenir stalls - spend your money there instead!

Hoping to explore Victoria Falls and Okavango area by vehicle in Feb 2019. Does the rain seriously interfere with travel in Feb? How are the roads then - hope to drive from Maun to Katima Mulilo.

I personally have not driven, used shuttle services, but I have colleagues who regularly do road trips between Botswana and Vic Falls in a small sedan. They say the roads are fine, though am not sure of rainy seasons.

I was injured while on our trip (this past March) and had to see Victoria Falls in a wheel chair. It was NOT easy. The paved path (flagstones, mostly) is rough, narrow, and very steep in places. There are frequent steps, too, although they are not high steps and there are usually no more than 3 or 4 steps at a time. What we did, at the advice of our hotel, was to hire a burly young man to push my wheel chair. He was great! He and my husband were able to get me everywhere I needed to go. And it was SO worth the money. The falls were spectacular!

Hi there. ill be back in Livingstone in March. Are there any game drives from the area please?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Sheffield.
Yes many game drives around Livingstone. Never the less you can try coming to Zimbabwe side where you can try one of our leading private game reserve in Victoria Falls town. The chances of you seeing the big 5 here are at list available.
Zim side also provides with the largest National Park in Zimbabwe on a 2 hrs drive from Victoria Falls town with varieties of game parks suitable for game drives and or camping. Good campsites available for you.
Not forgeting about the Zambezi National Park along the magestic Zambezi river where a game drive conducted in the park is a true enthusiatic game of challenge to see more game. Plenty of game but with thick vegitaion making more a sport to locate some game.
Chobe National Park in Botswana becomes another alternative though depending with your vissa applications. Recommendations on Chobe trips are always good and pleasing.
Looking down to see you in March for activities to add up to this.
