An incredible experience that was ruined by locals. We chose to walk to and over the bridge from the national park. Big mistake! After crossing the border post you are immediately swarmed upon by locals trying to sell overpriced copper bracelets. They will not leave you alone and are a complete nuisance. Then one person just took it upon themselves to join us as a tour guide. They did nothing but ruin the experience by pointing out the obvious- “That’s the bridge, That’s the bungee jumping, That’s the river.”
Have one of the guys operating the multi person bicycles take you to and back from the bridge. They only asked for $5.00 US and it was well worth it. That will alleviate much of the harassment.

Thank you so much for your review. We are sorry about the negative experience you had due to your encounter with locals. We will surely take this up with the relevant authorities to find a lasting solution to the problem. The place between the Zimbabwean border and the Zambian Border is a no man's land making policing it difficult legally but nevertheless we will do our best to craft a solution.

From the entrance to Vic falls it is a 10 minute walk onto the bridge - don’t forget your passport and ask for a bridge pass at immigration. You get stunning views of the river, falls and Lookout Cafe. Also don’t forget to take a photo of the Zambia and Zimbabwe “You are entering....” signs.

We walked over this iconic bridge when we crossed from the Victorian Falls Township Zimbabwe to view the falls from the Zambian side and to visit to David Livingstone Museum and the impressive Royal Livingstone Hotel. There is a good view from Wild Horizons Lookout Café and definitely worth visiting for the delicious food. But, it makes for better viewing from inside the Vic Falls National Park, just make sure you take your trusty raincoats and protection for your camera….yes, we got “the smoke” on the way over but not on the way back! It was an easy walk and no queues to either depart Zimbabwe (make sure you purchase the multi visa on your way in @ the airport to cover you going into Zambia and returning to re-enter Zimbabwe 😊 Us Aussies no longer have to pay to enter Zambia just get the Visa stamp in our passports….bonus! The Zambian side of the falls were definitely worth seeing just not as impressive as from the Zimbabwean side. Again on our trip back over the bridge there was no need to queue @ either stop, not even interested if we had foodstuffs but the big challenge was getting back to Victoria Falls township without being harassed by the locals selling their souvenirs….it was relentless….although not quite as aggressive as the Egyptians!!! Some useless trivia, the engineer who was responsible for the design of this bridge also designed the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

We walked across the bridge from the Zimbabwean side across into Zambia via 'no mans land' in the middle. Make sure you take your passport but ask for a bridge pass from immigration which is a stamp on a scrap of paper. There are good views from either side of the bridge and watching the bungee jumps is interesting. There is also a heritage train line running across. Many local men will try to sell various items along the bridge. I have read alot of comments about that on here, but these people are incrediably poor and so should be treated with respect. We were accompanied by a charming local man named 'ice cream' who without being overbearing acted as a makeshift guide and was incrediably knowledable about the falls, the geography and all things local politics. The best $5 spent all trip!

When you walk between Zambia and Zimbabwe, this bridge over the Zambezi with views to the Falls and second gorge is right after the Zambian border. A nice walk, but be prepared for hawkers selling water, souvenirs: a friendly "maybe later" has them leaving you in peace. Of course, don't forget your passport and make sure you get a Kaza visa when first arriving in Zambia which enables you to cross into Zimbabwe multiple times for 30 days.

You can view this impressive bridge right at the end of your walk around the falls, the track continues on but you have to retrace your steps to get out of the park.

It can also be seen well from the Lookout Cafe at Victoria Falls. Impressive bit of engineering, which we then crossed later in the day on our Rovos Rail journey.

Cecil Rhodes had a dream of a rail line extending from Cairo to the Cape, and he had a romantic dream of it crossing the gorge in sight of the beautiful falls. The bridge crosses the gorge between Zambia and Zimbabwe. A bit of history and a standing monument. It is quite pretty and worthy of going to see it and taking a photograph or two.

Make sure your dirver stops on the bridge, often your first glance at the Victoria Falls. Very deep gorges below, lush vegetation and the roar of the Falls. Just a regular metallic bridge like many others, but the link between Zambia, Zimbabwe, with all its truks loaded with copper from the near mines in Zimbabwe. Historical significance.

At the Zimbabwean border, you can ask for a bridge pass that allows you to cross over to the Zambian border control, but if you haven't officially left Zimbabwe, you can not enter Zambia, obviously.
All you do is take the long walk back to the Zimbabwean border control and hand in your free bridge pass.
The annoying thing is, as with other Countries, you can be hounded by the street traders who are relentless in pestering you on your journey.

Completed in 1905, the bridge joins Zambia and Zimbabwe. You get good distant views of it from the national parks in both countries. It was part of Cecil Rhodes’ Cape to Cairo railway dream. There is only one lane of traffic at a time plus a railway line. You can walk the bridge, seeing rapids below. Train dinners from both countries spend some time on the bridge before pulling back for dinner. For those not faint of heart you can bungee jump from the bridge.
