This is a exciting, educational, and fun experience. And the money goes to a great cause.  The lions are not drugged and are healthy. My friend was apprehensive about it at first but then felt at ease when the animals came out and she saw how calm they were. The goal of this program is to rehabilitate the lion population... More

Walking with lions is very expensive, 150 dollars per person, but worth the money. The price includes pick-up at the hotel, walking with lions, and a lovely breakfast outside if one chooses the morning session. I was in a group of 5 people, and we walked with two 18-month-old lion sisters Lala and Lila for over an hour in the... More

Our African tour guide told us this lion encounter organization was under a cloud of suspicion on how their money was being used, treatment of animals, and even that these animals were being killed after they became too unsafe for the 'walk with lions' part of this encounter. She said their tour company will no longer participate with this organization.... More

Hi Debo, firstly, thank you for the review and the questions. It is a sad fact that the large majority of activities which allow animals and tourists to interact with one another (do and rightly so) have a cloud of suspicion over them. They are usually unethical, both from the animal welfare point of view and the monetary one. Thank... More

Whilst I'm glad that we did it and the encounter with the lion cubs was very special, it was let down by the obvious boredom of many of the staff. Unlike the elephant ride of the morning, most of the staff at the lion experience appeared to be going through the motions. No passion even though they obviously cared for... More

What can you say? You get up close and personal (including getting to stroke them) with Lion cubs (or adolescents - before 16 months old) that are part of a wider conservation program for around 45 mins to an hour in a group of around 7. They will try and sell you a cheesy DVD of your encounter, but you'll... More

This afternoon we actually walked with the lions. I'm still amazed that we were really so close to them and they let us touch then, sit with them and scratch their bellies. Everything was well organized and we felt very safe. The guides were great about taking pictures for us so we could just enjoy the experience. Some people in... More

Not worth the $$$. Lions are trained and seem afraid of the trainers. Very touristy and Ethicality of Lion keep seems questionable. They do outright claim to be mainly for tourists and a spin off/fundraiser for their rehab center, Antelope Park, however, not a great experience, pretty boring.

Hi Neha, thank you for your review. I'm sorry you had a bad experience and did not think it was worth the money. Vic falls is a busy tourist town and most activities here are very touristy. The ethicality of having captive lions is borderline at best, especially if you have them for no reason, or worse just to make... More

As with any encounter with a wild animal, one feels extremely privileged to be able to have the experience, but there is a fine line between having a special "human" experience at the expense of a wild animal. According to the guide, the money they make with the lion encounters is used for protecting and conserving lions in Zimbabwe. One... More

Like the other reviewers, I was skeptical about this adventure at first because I was unfamiliar with the background of this company. But, after talking with the guides, I believe that the lions are being treated well and the babies are released into the wild so that they are not dependent on humans. The instructions we were given at the... More

Hi Gatorgal, thank you for your review. Just to clarify, the babies (once fully grown) that are released into fenced semi wild areas, with their captive bred parents, to grow up in a normal pride scenario with live prey, will be released into the wild. Sorry to sound pedantic but people may read this and think our entire plan is... More

We visited the lion encounter office and arranged for an experience with the lions. This experience is unbelieveable I personally think one of the best experiences of all time. To be able to walk with these majestic beasts which are endangered is magical. We were collected from our hotel, given safety instructions and VERY VERY IMPORTANTLY talked through the program...
