Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had I not been with a guide, I would never have known! Great place to see local life. The market is clean but the part where they sell fish is a little slippery as floors are wet so mind how you walk. There is fresh fruit, bread and more. I was told by my guide that prices are very reasonable. If you are vegetarian or can't stand the smell of fish or meat, then maybe avoid these areas. Highly recommend.

Get there early and enjoy a taste of local market life.

Fresh veg, fruit, cheese, honey, nuts, dried fruits and herbs, fish and meat.
You’ll be awash with smells and sights that make you hate the supermarkets back home.

It was fun to explore the fabulous fresh produce and spice section of the central market, especially when it was such a hassle free experience.

Great quality, good prices if you know how to haggle and great overall experience. You can also grab some cheap lunch or snack at several stalls.

This is an excellent stall where they serve you pasta but also small plates of spicy Tunisian vegetables with an egg, fish & meat. I tried the special Tunisian plate and it was delicious. If you like spicy food this will be a new experience

Do walk around. The fish market truly lives up to its worthy metaphor

Another place to shop is this central market, and this market features all sorts of foods. It is especially good for fresh things. We looked for dates and there were a lot of them.

It was really nice to have a wander though this real market with masses of fuit. vegetables and othe things on display.
It is generally not a tourist place so there is little if any hassle from sellers - but you still need to haggle over prices.
We enjoyed wandering around it and it gave us a feel of the lives of real people.
Well worth a quick visit.
