Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a guide for the day and this was one of the sites we hit. It was a good bit underwhelming. Yeah, it's the original phantom menace set, but it's very rundown. It's just a tourist trap. It takes about 15 minutes to look around. The only thing that makes it worth it was the drive out over the salt flats which had beautiful views and made it worth it.

I have mixed feelings about this site. The remaining film set buildings are actually quite beautiful, but of course it's all very artificial and sort of sad that one of the top tourist destinations in a country are the leftovers of of a 40 year old film. Quite a few tourists, and hawkers of various items.

I was on a Tunisian country tour and this place was included. It is very far away from the touristic places like Monastir, Hammamet, Sousse and it's advisable to stop for the night somewhere near/in Douze. We arrived here by Jeep tour along other sites in the wild desert. For a few hours I felt like being part of Star Wars. The film set is well preserved in the middle of the desert and you'll get the chance to explore it by yourself. Well worth it!

Though we were with a guide that seemed to bring us only where tourist traps were waiting for us, this was a fun site. I did fall for one tourist trap, which was a couple of kids running to us with a desert fox on a leash. I could not resist how cute the animal was and accepted to pet and photograph it for 2 dinars! The sight from the dunes is stunning, and the decor is a lot of fun to explore and photograph. My Star Wars fan friends all want my photos! The sunset at the site was okay, but not more spectacular than at other places. I don't think you need to go on a tour that insists you be at this site for the sunset. During the day under the bright sun would be great too if not better. Of course we did this in January when the temperature is cool and comfortable.

They are doing nothing to maintain it. Such a shame. Also a lot of 'locals' with desert foxes chained to try get you to pay for a picture. Wild animal - shouldn't be chained up.

It was nice to see but they could have done so much more with the set.

My worst discovery so far, there are so many great places to discover in Tunisia, how such a touristic trap can be considered as an attraction, it is pathetic. The village is falling down, it is always packed with tourists, the usual cheap souvenirs are all over so you cannot even enjoy the visit once you are there. Only the ride to the decor is worth the trip.

To see where Star Wars was shot and where Luke Skywalker lived.
I was there a few years back though.
Even if you pretty much seen it all in 30 minutes it is still pretty cool.

This is really in the middle of no where so be sure to have enough petrol and phones don't always work and no café around when you get there... Maybe that's why people go with the tour bus 🤔
Which we didn't do! But was amazing to see.

After driving in the sand dunes you discover, out of nowhere the little Tatooine! Amazing! It's there if front of you in the middle of the desert. You cannot go inside the house but you can go around the whole "village" and take pictures. Better go in low season. We were the only people there (7 people).
If you want you can try a cape pr Dark Vador's mask but careful there is a man hidding somewhere and will ask you for money. It's nothing but bear in mind that trying it's not for free.
Anyway. I'm a big fan of Star Wars so I was very happy to discover Tatooine in Tunisia.
