With the long boat trip from the mainland, approx 50mins in a slow boat, we were happy to find white sandy beaches.

Note that there was a lot of dead coral in the water and on the beach which did make it harder to relax, as you needed to keep an eye on how you walked.

Plagued by plastic bottles and scrap.

Food was again fantastic grilled fish and lobster. Lots if chips and mango

A great place to chill and relax. Higher price for foreigners and it doesnt matter if you are a resident or not. Cheap for Tanzanian citizens. Prices including the boat:
Tanzanian - 13,000
Foreigner - 37,000

Apart from a bumpy ride across the day spent on the island was without hassle, the food ordered could have been warn or was perhaps warm at some stage but not when it arrived on our table, apart from the food no hesitation in recommending a visit.

We did a quick morning visit with Joseph from Tomodachi Tours. Its amazing that just a quick 15min boat ride from Dar es Salaam is such a lovely island . Ideal for a quick day trip to picnic , swim , snorkel & just to chill on a lovely piece of beach. You can snorkel by just walking in about 50m & their is a reef all round , the better area is left of where the boats drops one off when arriving/departing.

There are plenty of trees & shade & a little bar & kiosk that sells food , a bit pricey so take your own. The chairs/huts are for hire & very surprisingly there is a big noticeboard that says you can't take photos with a camera , yet you can take pics with a cellphone , go figure .

Its worth a quick break from City life & very close to shore

This island is a short 15 minute boat ride from Kibo beach, one of Dar es Salaam's northern beach. It is in a Marine reserve and there is a 27,000 schilling fee for non residents. The return boat trip costs anything from 10,000 to 40,000 schillings, depending on the number in the boat. We paid 20,000 return. The beach is pristine white coral sand and crystal clear sea. There are tables and chairs , toilets and a small kiosk for light meals and drinks. We went on a Saturday morning and there were very few people,. It filled up a little around lunch time.

O. M. G. I loved it here! The beach and sand were absolutely pristine! There were minimal people on the island and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a place so beautiful in my life. The water was completely clear and see-through and there were little silver fishes jumping out of the water in the distance. An absolutely perfect setting. The beach also had a kiosk where fresh seafood was served and that was just as phenomenal as everything else in the atmosphere. It’s clean, uninhabited and an absolute paradise. I’m so glad this gem was recommended to me. It was the highlight of my visit to Tanzania, even better than Zanzibar in my opinion.
