Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This lovely church sits right next to Tangier's Medina, and serves as community center for both Muslims and Christians. It's dwindling congregation makes survival a challenge. Numerous British Tangier denizens and fallen soldiers are buried in the green space that is both garden and cemetery. It beautifully documents Tangier's position as an international city in the early 20th Century.

An oasis of calm. If you need a break from the bustle of the Medina the church is set in its own beautiful walled garden. Yassim the caretaker is very helpful. I loved the architectural mix that reflects the open spiritually of the place.

We visited St.Andrews (the English Church) whilst staying in Tangiers for a week.
We were fortunate to encounter the Caretaker/ Church Warden who showed us around and explained the history of the Church (immortalised in a painting by Henri Matisse) and also told us about the various British people who had lived in Tangiers and were buried in the churchyard.
We then spent time wandering around the very well kept- almost Gothic churchyard where Husband did a painting of the Church. We also purchased 2 books- the history of St.Andrew’s and a book detailing those buried here.
All in all a wonderful experience- we learnt a lot, the Caretaker was a font of knowledge. Really recommend a visit here.

We finally found our way to St Andrews. It's very central, just off the Grand Socco, but obscured by hoardings as an underground car park is being built on the site of a walled market place. It was locked but Yaseen the caretaker magically materialised and showed us round the church and garden. What a haven of tranquility in the middle of Tangier, worth searching for.

We went to a lovely service at St Andrew’s church last Sunday at 11am. We were greeted warmly, the service followed exactly the same format as home in the UK and had a family feeling. It was lovely to be sitting in Moroccan architecture and design with the Lords Prayer written in Arabic around the arch upto the altar. Great teaching from the interegnum vicar, Nick, too.

A beautiful old church designed in Moorish architectural style. While on our way to dine at Saveur de Poisson, we stopped to visit St Andrews. We were very lucky to meet Yaseen, the caretaker, who enthusiastically took us on an impromptu private tour of the church and beautifully cared for grounds.

We attended a Sunday morning service and were warmly greeted and welcomed. The grounds are beautiful with so many opportunities to learn about the people and church from years past.

The cornerstone for the new Church of St. Andrews was laid in the year 1894 and the church was consecrated in 1905. It is a church that was well documented, as services registers between the years 1885 to 1991 and even the accounting books for the years 1882 to 1926 are still in existence. There is also a very old graveyard on the property - just barely visible in one of the pictures are a couple markers. Unfortunately it now seems quite unkempt and closed up.

Anglian church with a fascinating well maintained cemetery beside the building. A reminder of the former British Ex-patriot community that hardly exists today now the congregation is mainly African. I photographed an attractive lady with her baby from Nigeria. (See my photos). The pianist is Scottish South African educated Gordon (photo) the warden is Jerry Butler (photo) accompanied by his Welsh wife Merryll. The priest was an English female locum as the community is dying! Yassim is the knowledge, friendly and helpful caretaker who spoke excellent English. Donations are welcome, books and excellent postcards are on sale. A meeting place on Sunday after the 11.00 service around 11.30ish outside. Visitors of all faiths are welcome. A MUST quiet place to escape the hustle and bustle outside! Service in January (wintertime) only on Sundays at 11.00 am but open to visit during the week. Highly recommended. Go, Go, Go!!

In Tangier on a Sunday, we are usually at our Uk church so sought it out. The service had just started. An eclectic mix of congregation as would be expected, but God was worshipped well that Sunday.
