The Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail is the principal attraction in Meknes. As of March 2018 it was under renovation and not open to the public. Check before you go. (I rated it very good to coincide with the existing average rating so as not to...More

Most reviews here seem to be referring to Moulay Idriss which is a different mausoleum altogether. Moulay Ismail's mausoleum isn't expected to open until late 2018. And then you can only enter if you are muslim. It looks like it's going to be quite pretty...More

From the outside it looks grand but there is no sign telling you that it is closed for reconstruction works. The museum had such a sign, but for religious matters one just have to know. Pity.

From the minute we drove into the white washed village we were shouted and screamed at by the locals. All we wanted to do was go to the Mausoleaum, but we gave up. Everyone wants their cut, they want to park your car miles away,...More

Our day trip driver took us to the Mausoleum but he failed to tell us we couldn't go inside. Only Muslim can enter and we were left standing at the barrier to have a look down a corridor. I fail to understand why it's on...More

You can´t visit it for at least another year, as they are renovating the Mausoleum. You want to check before you travel to Meknes as also the museum Dar Jamai is closed. To consider when you plan how long to stay in Meknes

This is worth a quick walk though. A pamphlet or guide is helpful for the history. As I found with many issues they were worth the visit and historical but not much wow factor.

Our driver drove us past this Mausoleum and told us it was closed for reconstruction. It appeared to be true, so we did not get to see it. I am not sure when it will re open.

This mausoleum has a beautiful facade. It’s very easy to find and many people can help you in case you can’t. However, you cannot go inside and this is also under a big renovation for few months ahead.
