You can wander for hours and never see the same place. Everyone loves to bargain but not pushy like other markets around the world. There are a few Beggars with their hands out but nothing bad. Very safe and good food everywhere. Too bad it's so hard to find a beer

Walking out of our hotel, Maison Arab, we found thus mini thoroughfare and followed it for a while, Felt like we were in Homeland. The real Marrakech, with butchers, tea, spices, etc.

The Marrakesh market, or souk, winds for seemingly miles through the media. There are many "souks" offering a variety of local and imported products. Beware: much comes from China, so if you are looking for locally made souvenirs, you must go to a reputable shop. Prices there will be much more expensive, but you are getting the real thing. One... Take a wander over to this part of the Medina, this is where the locals go for their goods, which means only one thing, decent prices. This gets you away from the hard sell of the souks. Definitely worth walking distance to.

Away from the main souks and square - bought fresh fruit and tagines from here without any bargaining as the prices were so reasonable. Locals were very welcoming.

Rue Bab Doukkala is a fascinating local market in which the locals do their shopping. You can buy almost anything from hats to rugs, it is much cheaper than the souks and the best place to buy tagines etc.,. Not a typical tourist market no hard sell.

Rue Bab Doukkala (from Bab Doukkala to the corner at Dar el Bacha) is a great local market street where local people do their daily shopping and is a natural route for tourists to take from that end of the new town towards the souks. From Baba Doukkala a minute or so into the street on the right you'll find... More

Rue Bab Doukkala This street is well worth the ten or fifteen minutes walk through an old part of the medina, a popular route from the new town en route to the main souks, it comprises a local market. No “hard sell” of the tourist souks here! The route stretches from the multiple gates of Bab Doukkala (next to the... More
