About
The riad-museum Le Jardin Secret is one of the largest and most ancient palaces of the medina of Marrakech. It is a place that has kept ancient structures intact that are of an extraordinary cultural value, linked to the art of gardens, architecture and Arab hydraulics. Popularly known as Riad Loukrissi, it has been the sumptuous residence of the Qaid U-Bihi who was the head of the Haha tribe. The riad rises up in the Mouassine quarter (on the main thoroughfare and but a few steps away from the Mouassine fountain and Mouassine Mosque), and comprises two large gardens and one of the highest towers of the medina. The museum provides you with a wealth of historical information about Marrakech's architecture, water, and gardens. You will also find a boutique, a bookshop and two cafes inside Le Jardin Secret. The cafes offer you up fresh, homemade products that you can eat in lush and peaceful settings.

This is a beautiful and restful garden in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of the Medina. If you need a quiet break where you can reinvigorate yourself, this is a wonderful place.

This beautiful, quiet, restored garden is absolutely worth a visit. We went here during the afternoon of a very hot day, and really enjoyed our time outside the bustle of the souk. We had a Moroccan mint tea sitting under the large gazebo, while taking in the relaxing garden around us.

Lovely gardens and to read how much work was required to recover this location is inspired. Congratulations to all the people involved you truly have recovered this lovely location.

The only downside I had with it was that the two ponds that have the fish and turtles in need some more maintenance to the water, it didn’t fit in with the theme of the location to have such a fantastic garden with poorly maintained ponds.

PRO TIPS!
- This will cost you 80 dirham per person and it is extra to go up the tower
- The upstairs terrace is free so you can go up there, it shares the same stairs as the tower
- It is quite hard to find it is in the shopping madina but google maps will take you directly to it

Nice garden, but a bit too pricey. The walk to the garden is quite nice as you’ll be surrounded by the markets and salesware. The Secret Garden itself is ok. If you have time left, definitely worth the visit.

This is our second trip to Marrakesh. As the YSL museum was shut, we couldn’t revisit that so spent a few days wandering the Medina and taking in other sights.
At 80 dh each, entry is pricey. But the garden is beautiful, fascinating, inspiring and worth the experience.
The film teaches you a bit about the Medina, and its history, and especially the role water has played, and continues to play. I will certainly never look at a Moroccan water feature or garden the same way!

Le jardin secret is definitely one of the best gardens I have ever visited. I really liked the historical saadian empire background behind the creation of the garden. I felt a lot of peace in this place, I would go back there if I ever visit Marrakech again.

This is a hidden gem in Marrakesh, there are many gardens but I actually thought that this one was my favourite, stunning plants, and fountains and a great history to read as you go through the garden, the fruit trees smell incredible and there is a small cafe to sit and enjoy a drink

We visited the secret garden early in the morning as it opens at 9:30 am. Well worth a visit especially if you enjoy peace and tranquillity compared to the bustling Marrakesh city. Glad the site has been rescued and restored.
