    The main attraction in Casablanca
Rated the largest mosque in the world after the ones in Mecca and Medina, this gigantic construction manages to maintain an air of elegance. The intricate tile work and cedar wood carvings are magnificent. We followed a guided tour in English--one of several offered. There was no charge, but the guide was not shy about asking for tips. Unfortunately, the group was too large (about 200 people) which made it difficult to hear the guide at times. He certainly knew his vocabulary, but his intonation sometimes made it difficult to follow along. We gave up after awhile and just walked around at our own pace. Be prepared for a long line at the ticket office!

Worth the 140 dirhamns Entrance Fee!
I purchased the ticket for 140 MAD or Moroccan dirhams that included the visit of the small Museum next to the Ticket Office. The latter has displays of various artworks made of wood, ceramics, and metals. Towards the end are diplays of artworks made by students that are for sale. There are hourly tours of the Mosque in various languages. Visitors are asked to take off their shoes, green bags are provided to store them while touring the mosque. Female visitors have head coverings, I had my hat on. The carvings inside are intricate and beautiful. There are 2 pillars showing the lineage from the Prophet Mohammed to the Moroccan Kings. At the Basement areas are many fountains for washing before praying. Suggestions: Join a tour, ask questions about the Mosque, tour it on your own after the tour is done, take lots of pictures.

    A must do visit
Visited as part of a tour group . We had an amazing local guide who was so interesting , which can make or break a visit . The architecture of this building is fantastic, it is stunning inside . It has a retractable roof , intricate plasterwork , beautiful marble and a really peaceful atmosphere. Our guide took us to many different areas of the mosque ,so we saw a real overview of the preparations for prayer. I will add that our visit was not during prayer time . We would certainly recommend a visit here & think it would be better with a guide .

A must to see if you are in the area.
The was an amazing mosque. We were blown away by the size and the quality of the workmanship. We had an excellent local guide who gave us lots of information. It was very busy but that didn’t detract from our visit as the guides had the groups well organised.

    Moorish architecture at its best!
This building is incredible- the thought that went into each detail comes through. You are initially struck by its size and the engineering genius behind it but that is quickly overtaken by the minutiae details that make it such a beautiful placement Went on the English tour with Abdel which was such a delight. His insights took what was already an incredibly majestic building to the next level. From insights on morrocan history to debates on costs to build, he covered all questions with expertise and humour.

    Excellent Architecture
Being located on the Atlantic coast, this mosque is an example of excellent modern architecture. It's interiors are beautifully designed and decorated. Some portion of its roof can be shifted to allow circulation of fresh air on the occasions when the number of people offering prayers is high. A must see for anyone while in Casablanca. Possibly, this is the only mosque in Morocco where non - Muslims are allowed to go inside.

On our last day of stay in Morocco and in Casa Blanca we decided to tour this mosque. Made from mostly local materials. Intricate designs all around. Inside the mosque, a long open hall that can accommodate several thousand of devotees including upper section for women. Below the main hall is the fountain and water station for cleansing.

    stunning
Stunning and a privilege to be able to visit it. Interesting and educational it is a place of wonder and not filled with monuments and statues like other places of worship - instead there is space for the mind to fill. Well worth a tour.

A must see location when in Casablanca
3rd largest mosque in the world, very interesting architecture and good guided tour. Like a lot of places in Morocco, the organisation is a bit muddled but you can find the ticket office a short walk from the Mosque, book a tour which are every hour i believe in the morning (except Fridays) and then keep your eye on someone that looks like a guide turning up and starting a tour fairly unannounced. The architecture is amazing and the guide was quite informative and open to questions. Expect the open request for a tip to come at the end.

The mosque is gorgeous and worth a visit if you have time. It's about $40 to see it, so only go inside if you really have interest in the architecture and interior tiles, etc. The outside is a sight to see on its own. I highly recommend booking a room near the mosque so that you can hear the call to prayer in the pre-dawn hours. It lasts about an hour and from my place was loud and clear. But it was a misty, cloudy night and the beautiful sound from the minaret all lit up in the sky was unforgettable and beautiful. Walking around this area doesn't offer much so go elsewhere for sightseeing after you've spent a good amount of time looking at the mosque's exterior and viewing it from the ocean side.

This is 7th largest mosques of the world and the largest in Africa. It is a relatively new mosque as it was completed in 1993. It is unique in many respects. First of all, it is the only mosque in Morocco where non Muslims can enter. Secondly, it is the only mosque in the world which stands half over an ocean. It was Inspired by the concept that Allah’s throne lies over the water. It also has a glass floor over the ocean where the royalty can pray. Thirdly, it has a 210 meters high minaret which is the second tallest minaret of the world. Fourthly, this mosque is one of the few mosques in the world which have been designed and built by non Muslims. It’s architect was a Frenchman called Michel Pinseau and the construction company was the Paris based Bouygues Construction. Fifthly, this building is unique because very few present-day buildings possess such artistic decorative features. More than 6,000 artisans were employed to do zellige mosaic work and gilded wood carvings. Modern technicians were also employed to construct the retractable roof and the earthquake resistant foundations. This mosque is a beautiful modern day wonder.

It was really sad what have happened in our 3pm tour in English. On the very first stop inside the mosque, a Japonese lady was talking discretly with her male young companion while the tour guide was explaning something. Suddenly he interrupted his explanation complaining about the talking of the two: "if you are not interested on what I am saying it should be better stay somewhere else" as she replied that she was just translating the information to the young man (there was no tour on their language) Then the tour guide suggested that she would stay far from the group and try just to whisper. She felt extremely unconfortable, said apologies to the group and left everybody behind. The horrible behavior of the tour guide haven't ended and got even worst when he asked the group if there was anyone who might not agree with him. Me and my wife felt really bothered by his behavior. We are visitors in the country. The lady seems to come from Japan, the most well educated country - in my opinion. We have been treated really well by the Morocco people. And I think what kind of impression the lady might have taken back home. The mosque is wonderful. An amazing place but I could hardly paid attention to any explanation after this fact but I truly believe that I haven't losen much.

I can definitely see why this is the #1 thing to do in Casablanca. This mosque is absolutely beautiful and an absolute must to visit. It was also the only mosque we were allowed to enter during our visit to Morocco. I would highly recommend going at sunrise or sunset as this highlights the exterior colours.

As a non Muslim the thought of being able to see a mosque was quite appealing. The architecture, the details, the grandness of it was amazing. The plaza, the minaret, the ocean view were worth the price of admission. We had a guide that gave us a tour and explained some of the details of the construction and function. Totally worth the price.

Be mindful though that this is a functioning place of worship and should be respected as any other. Definitely a must see if in Rabat.

If you are in Casablanca this is a must see site. The inside holds 25,000 worshipers. and the outside 75,000. The ceiling made of ceder opens up. There is a layer of glass so that birds can not fly in. The tilling on the floor is beautiful. We also visited the downstairs where there are fountains so the ritual washing can be done. There are separate sections for women to pray and to wash. The chandeliers are gorgeous. It is immense inside. The doors are made of titanium. Pictures don't do it justice. It is a must see site.

This is the only mosque in Morocco which non-Muslims may enter. They offer tours in many language during times when there are no services. The interior is magnificent - equal to the best cathedrals I have visited. With the exception of glass from Murano Italy used in the chandeliers and Carrara marble used in some areas the the front of the mosque, everything used in the construction and decoration of the mosque was obtained in Morocco.

I took the 3pm tour, which was the last one for that day. It is available in several languages, so be sure you schedule an English one. Due to special events they may be canceled, so one cannot depend on having a tour on any given day. Upon entry you will be asked to take of your shoes and given a bag to carry them in. This is necessary as you will leave by a different door.

The tour includes the main floor of the mosque and a lower level where ritual washing occurs. We were told that the only difference between the men's and women's was the color of the wall tile - men's was blue & green, the women's pink & white. We exited through an anteroom under the towering minaret.

As my title says, visit the mosque if at all possible

We were in Casablanca for only half a day, so we had time to visit only one site and we chose to visit Hassan II Mosque which is the only mosque in morocco which allows entry for non muslims. There is an entry fee which though is expensive but worth paying , the visitors are formed into groups and a there is a guide for every group. The interiors are as beautiful as the exteriors. Though one can enjoy the beauty of the mosque from the outside with ocean backdrop, I strongly recommend to buy a ticket and go inside to enjoy the views of the interiors

A very beautiful mosque open to all nominations. Tour guides around the mosque were available in differing languages. The number in the mosque at any one time were limited so it didn’t get too crowded. The tour guide was very informative and helpful giving the history of the mosque.

It is the 2nd largest mosque in Africa and the 7th largest in the world.

Its minaret is the world's second tallest(210 metres) Completed in 1993, it was designed by Michel Pinseau and built by Bouygues.

The minaret is 60 stories high topped by a laser, the light from which is directed towards Mecca.

The mosque stands on a promontory looking out to the Atlantic Ocean;

Muslims can pray over the sea but there is no glass floor looking into the sea.

The walls are of hand-crafted marble and the roof is retractable.

Approx 105,000 Muslims can gather together for prayer; 25,000 inside the mosque and another 80,000 on the mosque's outside ground.
