I think it was reading the stories of the Cross' creation (the funding process and original work) etc that made it so amazing in addition to the striking size. Definitely go inside the gift shop and read the poster panels of the story.

The views are truly spectacular from the hill and the drive is ever so green and verdant. The Cross itself is magnificent and soothing.

Uplifting and spiritual experience. Beautiful views and a relaxing place to visit. Narrow rock road to get up to the cross, but a wonderful experience once you're there.

We drove by and stopped here. There is a museum with a video that tells the story of this cross. A must see.

Thunder and lightning that day. What a sight! Hope, Charity, Peace, and Faith are inscribed at the base of the cross. The view is perfect.

This was well worth the drive! I was coming from Giant City State Park, so it was about a 35 minute drive. Not bad. The drive there, through the Illinois Ozarks, was beautiful. Once you get to the cross, the 360 degree view is amazing....More

The property was privately owned and for the most part the cross privately funded. The property owners decided to put it there.
