Awesome sight to see. Go in the morning before the weather rolls in. Clouds seem to build around noon and obscure the views.

Drive up to the top of Mt Haleakala and enjoy some amazing views while you climb to over 10,000 feet. Your ears will pop and you may go in and out of the clouds but often, the summit is clear and you can see over...More
This is a very scenic drive, but check the weather first. We drove up despite clouds at the top, hoping that they'd clear, but no luck. Couldn't see the crater, and as we expected it was cold and rainy - mountain weather! 75F when we...More
First it will not just be cold at the top it is absolutely artic. Dress accordingly or the whole experience is a waste of time. We had to pay $20.00 at an unmanned Ranger station for the drive up. Allow plenty of time before sunset....More

Lot of fun in driving/ cycling on the curved road leading to Crater 9000+ feet high. Tourists having motion sickness are advised to be cautious.
The road winds with ample space for two lanes but some very tight turns. Take stops to acclimatize to the pressure difference and watch the clouds dance along the mountain.
Beware of crazy people on bikes but a beautiful drive to the top with lots of twists and turns. an excellent ride on a motorcycle
