Do yourself a favor and go on the complete 1.5 mile hike after driving to the parking lot. It's slightly less than 3 miles round trip. Lava formations grow wilder as you trek further along the coast, and keep an eye out for occasional goats...More

As you drive the road to the lava fields you feel as though you have traveled to another planet. The jagged rocky lava here does not resemble the smooth flowing lava that usually comes to mind. It looks as though huge dump trucks randomly dumped...More

You drive through beautiful Wailea only to encounter something l have never seen before. The Lava fields are like a moonscape. Such unusual geology worth a look. ,

The area is extremely beautiful and is great for hiking. We saw some people swimming and snorkeling but we didn't do any ourselves. We went on a hike and explored the shore a bit, where we saw a ton of little crabs and fish. It...More

We went for a drive to the Lava Fields and it was just amazing how big the area of lava there was. I couldn't believe how light the lava rocks were. It was a great little bit of history to see on our holiday.

The landscape here is otherworldly. The drive there, along the really rough road carved through the lava fields, is really interesting. The scenery is really unique and you can hike through the lava fields. We traveled with young kids and so we didn't travel very...More

Well worth the visit, making sure you wear solid shoes. It takes an effort to drive there due to experiencing one lane roads before you arrive. Ocean shore was teeming with bright yellow fish, sea urchins and sea cucumbers. Lava fields appear to have happened...More
