Hana Highway

A lot of the best views in the island require you to take this narrow windy road . In my opinion well worth the drive.

The road to Hana was a neat attraction, however there are other parts of Maui that offer a better experience w less tourists and more reward. Yes, its worth a see for yourself if you happen to be in Maui, but be prepared for a long day and crowds galore. The roads are windy and narrow at times, so have... More

Pack some snacks, a cooler and enjoy a feast for the soul. I've been to Maui five times, but never made the trip to Hana. Our daughters were on their first trip to the island, so we knew we had to do it. Mandatory Items- cooler, snacks, towels, Chacos, camera and NERVE. Happy that my husband is a terrific driver... We took a bus tour from Lahaina up to and around Hana. We were able to get out in several spots including a roadside stand for bread and other goodies right outside Hana. Since we live in a rural area the narrow road did not surprise us but the many bridges and cliffside drops certainly got the adrenaline going! Do... More

Well, i have been Kaui and Big Island....and honestly this drive was bit boring for me compared to Kaui and Big Island. The waterfalls were beautiful, but does this justify the day long trip?? Not sure Would recommend doing this if you have a long trip to Maui and would like some respite from water activities

We were a bit shocked how scary the drive actually was and my stress levels on on form!!! But it was worth the grey hairs that we most likely both got after this amazing drive. The scenery in my opinion was right up there in being some of the most magical in the world. You really need to be a... More

This has been on my bucket list for awhile and worth the wait. Yes there are over 600 curves and yes over 60 one lane bridges, but I was never frightened or felt unsafe. The waterfalls, the eucalyptus trees, the black sand beaches and so much more. I'm still in awe. My tip, get the Gypsy App for The Road... More

If you can, spend two days exploring Road to Hana. There are tons of trails and places to stop by along the way. Road is very windy so you have to take is slow. At most places, there is no official parking so you have to pull over and have to be considerate to other drivers.

We were told to check the weather before leaving as you do not want to drive this road in the rain - forecast fine/sunny so off we went. It is the worst road I have ever driven on and I drive for a living. After about an hour the weather turned and it was moderate rain. The road twists and... More

I've heard about this historic road my whole life so I was pretty excited to finally see it. But there wasn't that much to see. But we didn't stop along the way too much. We mostly just drove the road & saw more & more of the same thing; trees, rain forest, nature, etc. We did stop at Twin Falls... More
