Road to Hana was quite an adventure. Make sure to rent a convertible or 4x4 Jeep, and download and pay for the tour guide app. Drive safe, turn on your headlights and honk your horn to let them know you're passing through! This was one...More

Beautiful scenery. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time.... and go clockwise ( we didn't) and had to look back at several waterfalls. Also, roads are much better clockwise but there's more traffic... just be in Island mode and don't rush ;) there are...More

I traveled to Maui a few years ago with my parents and we decided to do the "Road to Hana" bus tour. It was awesome... what an incredible, beautiful and educational journey this was! Out of the many places I've traveled and the many sites...More

This road and the stops can get busy so my two main recommendations are to start as early as you can and do plenty of research as many stops are not worth it. This is particularly important if you're trying to do it in one...More

Lived up to expectations! Amazing views and a thrilling drive. The winding roads and one way bridges were harrowing but worth it because this was quite the exciting trip. Saw gorgeous black sand beaches, numerous waterfalls, and beautiful ocean views. Definitely give yourself enough time...More

Windy road with beautiful views. It was a good experience seeing the views. There is a lot to explore along the road. I would do to again but camp on the other side. The traffic was annoying.

I read many reviews about this trip and forced my husband to read the "road to hell" review just so he knew what we were getting into. I hope to clarify a few things that I was unsure of before. Yes, it is totally possible...More

We did a private tour to Hana and glad we did it that way. We were very tired by the end of the day and couldn't have imagined driving back and forth by ourselves. Lots to see but mostly its scenic and is a beautiful...More

An SUV isn't necessary as the road is all paved. You want a car with maneuverability. Better to choose a small sedan or compact that corners well. If you park anywhere, don't leave any valuables in your car as break-ins are... More

I would go on a weekday, and not Friday. Second, we had a jeep. Last, I think we used Gypsy and it was very, very helpful! I didn't mention it in my review but I should have! Have fun!
