Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In first visiting the Princeville area and then going to Poipu we decided on making a stop here as it didn’t seem like it was out of the way. Driving here was about a ten minute ride off of the main road and it was worth it as you have access to view the falls without walking on a trail. I wouldn’t make a special trip here but definitely stop if you are passing by.

We knew Kauai had a lot of waterfalls but we couldn’t hike to many. We found out this one was visible from the road so decided to take the turnoff you get there. It’s just a 2 mile detour.
It is a really pretty fall. It’s 150 feet and wide so it’s very easy to see from the lookout.
If you cross the street you can also get a lovely view of the Wailua River.

This is an easy access walk from a parking area with room for many cars. You get to see the falls clearly but at a distance as there are really not paths available to get near the falls. Some waterfalls require long hikes, so this is easily accessible on the East coast of Kauai, but the viewing at a distance is the tradeoff. Just manage your expectations and enjoy the view.

My wife and I visited the waterfalls as part of a Holland America shore excursion. This was 1 of 3 sites we visited on this excursion. The weather was not the greatest, with significant rainfall. Not the prettiest day. But the falls are viewed from quite a distance, and with all of the rain, very impressive. We did not spend a lot of time there. There was a restroom at the parking lot. I would not rush back to these falls.

Just drive up and park not much walking to see the falls. Safe for family with young kids. It’s a sidewalk you view the falls from several hundred feet above. No worry of getting wet or slipping. Honestly it was not my sort of thing but the falls are beautiful so to each there own!

The way to see the falls is from a pull off viewpoint off the road. The falls are very nice, but quite distant. Need binoculars or telephoto lens to appreciate. Across the road you can also view the Wailua River, also at a distance. We thought we could drive a bit further and see the falls closer, but apparently not. Like Wailua falls, this is okay to visit if you’re looking for something to do, but have high expectations.

This dual waterfall is scene from the parking area along the road so there's not walking or hiking required.
You can walk up a little further and cross the road to get a view of the river.
We stopped here on our way to do the West Trail of the Sleeping Giant.
It's so easy to see and get to, why not stop and take a photo.

We drove to this area to see the falls. We enjoyed the scenery along the ride. You could see the falls from the parking area beside the road. You could along the edge for different vantage points and cross the road to see the river there. We enjoyed seeing the white tailed tropic bird which was closer than we've been able to see so far. My grandchildren are good at spotting the lizards in the vegetation and could name at least three varieties. The local flowers were very pretty along the walk.

During our February visit, we drove to these falls. There is a parking lot with a short walk to view the falls. Unfortunately, the water was not flowing at full force and the trees along the fence line was blocking some of the view. Easy access for everyone. Bathroom facilities.

Opaekaa Falls is a beautiful, easy, and convenient stop to make on your island vacation. There is ample parking and restrooms. From the parking lot to view the falls, it is maybe 20 steps. I suggest a visit here.
