Highly recommend this hike! Amazing views of the Na Pali Coast! My husband and I hiked to the waterfall and back (8 miles roundtrip). If you are in good physical shape and don't mind getting muddy, definitely hike back to the waterfall. The waterfall is...More

There are so many stunning vistas around every corner of this hike. How difficult it is depends on how muddy the trial is. I would call this a difficult hike. The first 2 miles to the beach is plenty of adventure and beautiful views. You...More

We hiked the first two miles of the Kalalau Trail to Hanakapi'ai beach - it had rained the night before so we didn't start too early which was good (trail was closed until about 9a). We parked in the overflow lot 0.25 mi away as...More

This two mile hike to the stream can be difficult. If you are at all unsteady please consider just going to the first lookout (about .2 miles) and then turn back. If it has recently rained, hike with caution as the trail gets muddy and...More

We only did the first two mile trail to the beach, but don't let the short distance mileage fool you, it was a bit challenging at certain points, and slippery at others. The reward was the many ocean views as the trail went up and...More

I just did the two miles to Hanakapi'ai beach. I started before sun up had decent parking and was alone on the trail most of the way there. The surf was a little high and I could hear the waves thundering against the coast below...More

This is a tough, physically demanding hike but worth every second. The changing views all along the trail (bright blue sea, lush tropical greens, bright red ground, misty mountain tops) will take your breath away. We hiked all the way to Hanakapiai Falls (which adds...More

Well worth the hike. We only did the 2 miles in to the beach not the whole thing as you have to get back. A little slippery and muddy. Need good shoes.

Kalalau trail is amazing, there’s a beach at 2 mile mark. Nice spot to rest and eat snacks. Afterwards, another two mile to reach to Hanakapiai Falls, which is breathtaking. Strongly recommend, make sure to check the weather before you go because heavy rain may...More

We did the 8 mile return (4 miles one way) hike to the Hanakapiai falls which was challenging but very enjoyable for anyone who likes hiking! We arrived at around 930 on a Saturday, and easily got a park in the second parking lot (5min...More

I'm not sure about your hiking abilities, but I wouldn't recommend hiking with a 15 month baby because the trail is very muddy and slippery. Some parts can be steep too. So, it can be a medium to difficult hike itself and... More
