Although the trail head for the petroglyphs is well marked, the trail winds through bushes and trees for about one mill until you come to the main viewing area. It is well worth it--- makes you wonder what all the signs meant. This walk is...More

The good news is that getting to these petroglyphs is super easy, and it's free. They are gathered together in one place a very short walk from the beach parking area. We walk by it often on our morning walks to the beach. Be prepared...More

The best time to go would be early morning. It's a hot walk on a sometimes difficult-to-see trail. Take water. You can walk around the petroglyphs for a pretty good view, and can get close enough for photographs, although it's sometimes hard to get a...More

From the parking lot walk about 30 minutes along the trail and wind through the undergrowth. While it seems like you walk endlessly, you will know it when you reach the end of the trail. There is a huge flat rock section that is fenced...More

Nice walk to the site. Well marked. You don't want to do this during the heat of the day. Difficult to see many of the markings as they are on the ground. Limited access as they are protecting the markings. Mostly figures and family groupings...More

We did this site during peak of the day so the viewing was ideal, but it is an easy hike and well with the visit. Tip: viewing the petroglyphs through the camera makes them much easier to see because it increases the contrast. There is...More

I am surprised how easy this place is as it is literally behind the shopping plaza. I was surprised to see how little measures are in place to protect this piece of Hawaiian history. The route is pretty rough on the feet so I would...More

This is a 1.5 mile hike through an interesting forest, with a breathtaking view of well preserved petroglyphs at the end. It is, however, hot. Go early in the day.

It is walkable but a hot and not that scenic walk on the road. You can make a shorter and scenic 15 minute walk along the shoreline north and get to Holoholokai Beach Park. The petroglyph trail is off the parking lot on... More
