Some people seem to be reviewing the handful of petroglyphs that are beside the parking lot. But if you walk 0.7 miles you’ll see the actual field of petroglyphs which is much more interesting. It’s a bit of a rough trail but we did it...More

It’s interesting to see these pictures carved into stone hundreds of hot thousands of years ago. It is hard to find. If you get to the ocean, you’ve gone too far. Back up to the parking lot before that and look for the sign. A...More

A fairly easy mile plus walk lead us to the petroglyphs. Although it was not really what I expected (all in one area and one looking much like the next) it was interesting and worth our hour's time. When you start the trail, there are...More

We were staying in the Mauna Lani area for a few days, so decided to explore a bit. If you turn off HIghway 19 on to Mauna Lani Drive (between mile markers 73 and 74) and take the far right branch of the round-a-bout, you...More

We stopped in the parking lot by the beach. We walked to the beach and back to see we have overlooked the path. Once you get on the correct path, you will see a few petroglyphs and then the real walking begins. The sign says...More

I would not recommend this hike if you have a mobility challenge. Take water! I wish I had worn my hiking shoes instead of my Sauconys, but I did see people in flip flops. I have a mobility issue and would not have been able...More

I have to chuckle at the recent reviewers who thought the petroglyphs were at the end of the walkway. In this day and age of instant gratification, people often expect to be overwhelmed with only enough effort that requires a few clicks on their phones....More

We checked this out due to its close proximity to the Fairmont. Kind of interesting, but a bit underwhelming. Worth seeing if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

We nearly overlooked the trail entrance, but within a minute's walk found a circle of petroglyphs laid out for easy viewing. Were they real, or representative? I don't know. Then the trail goes through a tangled forest of unidentified trees, with no helpful signage for...More

We walked the complete trail and came away disappointed. The best petroglyphs are in an enclave about 250 meters from the parking lot. It appears they have been lifted from somewhere else and displayed here. The rest of the walk takes you to an area...More

It is walkable but a hot and not that scenic walk on the road. You can make a shorter and scenic 15 minute walk along the shoreline north and get to Holoholokai Beach Park. The petroglyph trail is off the parking lot on... More
