This is by far one of the most inviting beaches on the big island. The hotel allows and number of guest in to the hotel daily with a beach pass that is given if you are one of the lucky people ( or if you go early enough). The pass allows you to park you car in the hotel provided... More

I love this beach and understand that there is limited parking for non-guests. That being said, the staff should be a little more understanding and flexible with the beach spots. We drove down and found a spot to be told we could not park there because we said we were going for lunch. We planned on going to lunch and... More

If you're looking for a sandy beach to play in small waves, this is a great choice! There are lots of rocky beaches around Kona and a lot of great snorkeling beaches, this one was our top choice for enjoying the water, no rocks at all…

A lot of the beaches on the Kona side of the island are miles above Kona and this is about 40 miles north of Kona but made the trip twice because we fell in love with it. Sandy beach and snorkeling available. Lots of fun to be had. Only 40 spaces available to park from after the hotel there. Tell... More

There is limited parking for beach goers, so get here early. We arrived at 8:25AM and got one of the last two parking spots in the lot (about 30 spots). Because of the limited parking the beach doesn't get too packed, but you do share it with guests from the adjoining hotel. Tip: pack your own lunch/snacks. The food at... More

Arrived at 9am during spring break which was too late. The next day we dragged the teens out early and got one of the last four spaces left and that was at 8.10am mid week! We loved the beach and the snorkeling was good and the boogie boarding picked up by afternoon. It was so clear and blur and quite... More

You don't like sand? Stay away. You don't like the sound of waves crashing against rocks? Go somewhere else. If you do like those kind of things and can afford it...stay here and dig this beach. It is the best tourist beach on the island. Big Island 🌴? Love ❤️ it!

We visited the beach and went to a tiny cove past where the hotel guest chairs are. We had a picnic lunch, played in the ocean and relaxed in the sun. The beach was calm and tranquil. Just plain beautiful experience for all of us. Thx Mauna Kea Beach!

Be sure to get there early!! We found that we had to arrive before 8am to get a parking spot but it is definitely worth it Plenty of trees for shade. Be sure to snorkel on the south side of the beach.

Superb beach! Soft clean sand with blue clear waters! The water is shallow and excellent for kids. Nice waves makes it perfect for kids to surf or boogie board.
