Great venue all in all, keep in mind it's standing only so can make for a long night on your feet. couple of bars inside on the back wall. Accidentally left my pocket knife in my pocket and got nabbed by security at check in- they graciously offered to keep it at "will call" till after the concert. nice touch and rarely seen!

With the fire years back "hotspot" was literal. Generations of students and visitors have enjoyed music and movies in this venue. I've seen them host game watching for big Dogs' games too.

Nice place, saw Whiskey Myers here. Don’t expect great quality photos of the band, the lighting just wasn’t great. If you have to go to the bathroom, get ready to run up and down stairs. The rooftop bar is very nice. They usually play music up there so you can get your dance on. Only negative is that it was crowded. Smoking is allowed on the rooftop bar.

We used to love the GA theatre! Been going there for decades, have watched many bands come out of this place. Unfortunately now it is a sad place with the rudest staff and management. Not worth your time or money

The major issue with the venue is lack of seating. There is a small board about 4 inches wide that lines the balconies. They push bar stools up to them. This is the ONLY seating. Most people have to stand. This is a problem unless you are tall. You will be paying to see the backs of people's heads. You must get to the venue really early to grab a bar stool. On top of lack of seating they keep the fans and HVAC blowing the entire time. It isn't a problem unless you are on the top balcony and they blow directly on you making for a long night. The bartender on the top balcony was rude, at best. She made it clear she had no time for any questions. The beer selection is very, very limited. The crowd wouldn't shut up making it hard to actually hear the person performing. Most people were frat bros and sorority types with no respect for anyone else. I don't think that I would make a trip back to see anyone else here. It just isn't set up for being anything more than a college bar.

stopped in for a drink. small area on top. very crowded and noisy. all college kids. not a bad place if you are in your 20"s. outside. nice view.

Service is the name of the game and they'll habe no more of my business. Also be warned they have a strict no refund so if you have any doubts wait to buy your tickets.

Very cool place to have a cold one and take in the view. Met some really nice people and had a great time before the concert below. Help at the bar not very nice, still had a great time anyway. Maybe he was having a bad day.

We went up to the rooftop bar just to check it out while waiting to meet someone. It was pretty crowded and not a lot of room to walk around on a Saturday evening around 7. The view was not as good as I expected based on other reviews !! We didn’t try any drinks. I did notice people with food. I’m glad we didn’t make a special trip or have to pay for parking.

This is a fine venue, one of the best in Athens, but it sure is not what it used to be. Since the change in ownership in the past year or so, prices have sky rocketed, to the point that closing out a bar tab no longer seems like you've been out at an affordable, let alone cheap, college town bar, Sight lines in the venue are not as friendly as they had been before the fire, but the roof top bar is awesome, offering some of the best views in all of Athens. In the flipside, the quality of the food offered on the roof, while still worthy, has also declined since the ownership change. The no reentry policy during concerts is also a real drag, especially during crowded shows when it'd really be nice to get some fresh air without going to the roof, which can get over crowded or be a bit cold in winter.

what is the age limit for going to a show?

Most shows in the main venue are 18 and up, but check the main calendar on their website to be sure. It always notes the age requirement. Shows on the rooftop bar are usually free but always 21 and up only.

No idea. I would suggest looking on the GA Theater website, and if you are looking for what else is happening in Athens on that date look at the Athens Chamber of Commerce website or just Google what's going on then.

Some shows yes, call theatre to make sure. Most are 18 and over.

Yes! They will definitely card you. Generally speaking, you must be 18 or over to attend shows at the Theatre. However, if you are accompanied by a parent they MAY permit it.
