I've toured the ruins at Copan on a couple separate trips. Along with the awesome ruins, you can visit the museum that has a fantastic collection of Mayan stelae and sculptures. A new site near the main ruins has recently opened called El Rastrojon. There are several Agoutis running around and numerous scarlet macaws flying about and perched at feeding... More

These are great archeological ruins that have gotten even better with the arrival of wild Macaw birds flying above at sunset! These ruins are very nicely done with easy ways to find you way around. I liked having a guide to explain everything to us even though it does cost extra. We also included the tunnel portion of the tour... More

I've been to about 5 different sites of Mayan ruins, and while I know there are many others, this was my favourite site that I've visited. I absolutely loved the contrast between the fully restored parts of the site, and the parts that were still untouched. I loved climbing the ruins, and I loved seeing trees growing over them. I... There were quite a few tourists, mainly from Honduras and guatemala but it wasn't overly crowded. We were able to do everything we wanted to do without being rushed. the restaurants were fabulous--had some great meals. The... More

Top Maya site. Incredible history to become familiar with. The site is just beautiful, trees, birds, and those magnificient structures and sculpted figures and statues. The combination is really magical.

One of the top Maya ruins in Central America. wide open spaces and well marked exhibits. The museum is a must visit, as it has the original sculptures in doors. The tunnel tour was okay provided you have a guide to point out what you are looking at. Otherwise, give it a miss.

Beautiful site, the staircase is especially impressive. I also loved watching the groups of macaws flying around the site. Can't miss this site, but go early it gets hot!

very interesting walk around the ruins, there is also a couple of forest trails to walk around, a café, gift shop and museum. we saw some macaws in the grounds and a few other birds. It does pay to get there early as the ruins does get busy.
