Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This beach is a hidden gem. The locals know about it. It’s far from all the ports and resorts and secluded. It’s a trip on a dirt road for about 6 miles. It takes time to get there, but the pay out is worth it. We saw 4 other people at this beach. There are no bathrooms. Just shade and seclusion on a beautiful beach. We were told about it by a local that agreed to drive us there. We brought our towels, stopped at a store for drinks and snacks, and proceeded to have an amazing time. When we were done with the beach, we drove down a little further and had an amazing late lunch at La Sirena. (They get their own equally amazing review.)
I’m feeling guilty even writing this review because I don’t want to share how nice a time we had at this beach.

The camp bay lodge is a long way from anything else on Roatan. You will think that you are never going to get there, but keep driving and swerve to miss the potholes and rocks and eventually you will be rewarded. The beach is is so clean and was only occupied by two other couples plus a few walk thrus from down the way and a very friendly dog. The snorkeling is not great because of turtle grass unless you go far out to the reef, but there are lessons for kite surfing and scuba dives are also available. The lodge and restaurant are full of friendly , helpful , lovely people. We had lunch and it was very good and we’ll prepared. The pina coladas will knock your socks off they are so sweet and taste the best that we had in Roatan. The water is warm, the sand is white, the cHairs and hammocks are in a beautiful shaded grove of trees and the sound of the waves is about all you will hear. This was our favorite place on the whole island

It depends on your preferences, but for us, it was THE BEST! It is quiet, very few people around, you get hundreds of meters/yards of beach just for yourselves. The nature is intact (the nature park/reserve is a mere kilometer or so further to the east), you get a wonderful feeling of a deserted island in the middle of an ocean, yet you are less than half an hour driving from the hustle and bustle of the West Bay.
The walk (slow and serene, or brisk, your choice) from the rocky point (do climb it as far as it takes you) on the western end all the way to La Sirena on the east end is totally relaxing and rejuvenating. Let me put it in the simple words - there's no way we're coming back to Roatan without visiting Camp Bay Beach (and La Sirena)!
BTW, even if there were no Camp Bay Beach, the bite and a sip at La Sirena would make the drive worth while!!!

Away from the crowds of cruise ship passengers (of which we were), lies a secluded white sand beach that is worlds away from everything. If you are on Roatan for the day, rent a jeep and make your way to Camp Bay Beach. You will find an amazing restaurant if you go far enough down the dirt road. People are so friendly and even though I know this island has crime, it did feel very safe and truly like paradise.

It’s an ok beach. There are many better beaches near West Bay, West End. It is a long boat ride to get there from Sandy Bay.

Great beach! Only 10 people on the whole beach! Last 7 miles of drive is all dirt and little rough. Best beach in Roatan. Has to be miles long. It is on the east end of island.

Not worth the drive
The beach was average, nothing like the photos, however, the piles of rotting garbage was epic
There is absolutely nothing there apart from a few dilapidated lounge chairs
Such a shame they let it get into this state
It could be made into such a great place
Very disappointed
Also worth noting that you will need a 4x4 to reach the place otherwise you are likely to ruin your car suspension!

Beautiful beach for lounging the day away. Nice Long Beach to walk and explore with plenty of coconut trees to rest ion the shade under while reading a book or gazing at the beautiful waters of the Caribbean.

If you are looking for a beautiful beach, you will not be disappointed, but, if you're looking for an idyllic spot it's not guaranteed. We drove there on a Sunday and couldn't find a place to park.

We have been to the east end several times, 5 times that we have visited Roatan. This time we needed a boat ride from Paya Bay to Bo bush's on Guanaja. We had no working cell phone so thru several locals found 2 people to help us. Herbie Jackson from Sandy Bay brought his boat all the way to Paya Bay and took us to Guanaja. Handford, who was recommended to me on FB picked us up. We went to his place prior to the trip and made the deal. He followed thru 100% and I would highly recommend his services. Camp Bay Beach is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Pristine.
