I have visited Zoo in Guatemala City on one of Saturday’s, during my recent stay in this city. This is nice place to see natural plants of Guatemala and also meet locals :) (almost no tourist). I am not a fan of zoos as I do not think this is the best place for animals. However I understand that this is some kind of a way of prolonging some species. Therefore I am visiting such places to support them, by paying tickets and buying souvenirs. Zoo in Guatemala requires support - some animals were in smaller places and you can see, by observing their behavior, that they need bigger place to leave, in these abnormal condition of zoo. I believe that by supporting local communities we can help them to become better. I hope one day zoo in Guatemala will become a better place for animals. If you have chance to be in Guatemala City, consider quick visit to local zoo (close to airport).

The zoo has many animals , including sea animals. They have a program where you can feed the giraffes for an extra fee. Unfortunately the day we visited they were not offering that program. They have parking on site. You can buy your tickets online or on-site. Very nice signage with descriptions. The visit was very pleasant with lots to see. I would say you need at least half a day here. They have restaurants at the front. But I had snacks. Bring a hat and sunscreen. We forgot ours and it was HOT.

Great variety in the animals there, they have an ususual number of mixed species exhibits. Great breeding programs for several of their species, for exmple African painted dogs and ostriches. Some of their animals are rescues. Good conservation education staff.

I needed to find a place to hangout prior to my flight from nearby La Aurora Airport, and found this gem. There are a great variety of animals, mammals, reptiles, birds. The facility is clean and well cared for. The animals were quite active mid-day in early April. The water features here and there and natural trees throughout add to the peacefulness all around. There were plenty of children’s activities available. The value for the entry fee was very high. Unfortunately for me was most signage was solely in Spanish. So I carried my backpack around only to discover on my way out there were hidden lockers you could rent. So, if you’re like me ask at the entrance or get a brochure/map. ( I got there late and thought i’d be running through so didn’t bother. It turns out it was Easter and they were not rushing anyone out, so I stayed long past the posted entry hours)

One of the nicest zoos I have visited in Central America. The exhibits are excellent, the animals look happy and healthy, and it is obvious the the zoo is always making upgrades and improvements. It is a vast beautifully gardened and maintained facility! We loved it and will encourage others to visit. Allow as much time as possible to take in this park. It is delightful and educational.

Visited the zoo today. Was keen to see the aviaries and birds. It was really busy with many young excited children who have a chance to see animals they will only encounter online, television or in books.
However, many of the larger animals are in enclosures that are far too small and some were exhibiting stressed behaviour pacing endlessly in a similar pattern.

Much better than I was expecting. The zoo was actually quite big. There is a place to eat food before or after going to see all the animals. Most animals seemed well cared for except there was only one elephant, which I expect is very lonely. They need to work on population control with their baboons and gazelles, there were far too many for the size of their enclosures.

I've only been to a few zoos and I think this is the best one I've seen. They have many different animals and some I've never seen before. Plenty off places to get food. The zoo is very clean and well maintained.

One of the most beautiful zoos in Latin America. A perfectly keept zoo, with a fantastic variety of animals. It has a nice little acuarium, and very impressive serpentarium. Very shady to walk, several places to sit and take a rest. Food court. Great parking space. Very cheap admission fee. One not to miss.

This was a nice day trip to get the kids to see something different. Very affordable with cute areas. It was strange to see planes taking off and landing, I felt bad for the bears who obviously did not have enough space, but I was at a Zoo afterall.
