Almost every Latin city has a central square with a main cathedral. The Metropolitan Cathedral isn't the most impressive in the hemisphere, but it's still a nice place to visit. There are some elaborately decorated chapels and it's a highly significant place for this largely Catholic country. If you do go, I highly recommend taking a few moments to review... More

Its historical church, wonderful from inside to outside. It have many chapels and the principal is huge, maybe 100 rows of benches. Is fantastic to search inside and imagine a +200 years ago when it was on its perfection. Always works perfectly to have concerts inside. Violin or piano concerts, like opera. I like it!!

Nice Cathedral and near all downtown landmarks. At the central plaza just across the Presidential Palace. Visit the Palace for a fee.

Always rains in the evenings when we were in Guatemala city. To escape from rain, we stayed at the Cathedral. Nice place to visit.

The Cathedral is neither a baroque frenzy nor a gothic triumph. It's a serene, gray space, filled with natural light, and obviously meant to take you away from the chaos outside. There are some nice features if you appreciate grand scale architecture or have an old-school Catholic upbringing.

This is a stunning cathedral. Tourists are welcome and for anyone who has toured Guatemala and visited other cathedrals in Antigua or Xela or even churches in smaller communities, this visit offers a great perspective on the architecture and traditions of the catholic church in Guatemala.

If you are in Zone One, you might as well stop by the Metropolitan Cathedral to view its ancient art pieces and architecture. Not super impressive, but worth a visit.

Amazing cathedral! completely colonial, made with stone. People here have so much faith. It is a place to admire and a place that invites you to pray.
