We joined the town folk for a free showing of "Jaws". It was fun and took you back to a time when it was a community gathering in a local spot. The theater has been meticulously restored and the sounds system was great. Definitely worth...More

Thank you so much for your kind words and we are so glad you enjoyed our First Friday Film. We do hope to have you as our guests at the theatre again very soon!
I recently attended a play at this beautiful theater (Shrek-the Musical). Although the show was sold out, each seat was comfortable and there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The theater was able to get everyone seated and the show started on time. This...More
If you like history and reviving old structures, this is one to be admired. The only thing that is not good is the sound. There are no mikes or amps. You can hear from the stage when music is being played, but plays are hard...More
I recently attended a production by the Swamp Gravy Players entitled "Women of the Bible - Through Their Eyes". The theater is beautiful, and the acoustics are very good for such an old venue. The ladies were wearing microphones, and every word they spoke or...More
Wow - amazing theatre - refurbished. Old plush carpet and curtains. Happened upon theatre while walking around town during a stop on the SAM Shortline Excursion Train tour. A nice place to see what the "theatre" was like in its hay day.More

Thank you so much for stopping by the Rylander Theatre while visiting our area. I'm so glad you enjoyed your tour and I hope you'll join us again next time you're in town!
We stopped here during our visit to Americus. There was some type of recital that evening but they let us self tour. Such a gem, not much goes on here, you would think it would have shows/movies/ events at least monthly.More

We visited when Americus was celebrating their first community art walk-many interesting places were open. The Rylander can be reached at (229-931-0001). You might also want to contact the Americus-Sumter Tourism Welcome Center (229-928-6059) for local activitiies. It is adjacent to the Windsor Hotel (229-924-1555) which is also well worth a visit (We stayed there and loved it! It also has Amelia's Restaurant which I highly recommend). Also be sure to visit the Habitat for Humanity Global Village and do a stroll or drive by to see the beautiful local homes. We initially were just looking for somewhere to stay on our way to visit the Andersonville prison site and were truly amazed and thrilled with Americus.
