The San Ignacio Market is a great place to go to chat with locals. The market was filled with fresh veggies and fruits, and it actually ended up being the place we got our coolest and cheapest souvenirs from.

Although it was a weekday, the shops were there at 7am, all the fruit stalls were there, clothing and a few handicraft were only opening/ setting up. If you're looking for fresh fruits, a local market ambiance, go have a look!

Fresh fruits and vegetables. Great when staying and cooking at a hostel with a kitchenette. Plenty of fresh homemade ice cream.

We ate lunch here for two people for about $5 US total. That was good that we saved money on lunch because the cheese we bought from the Mennonites was VERY expensive. Yummy, though. Other than that, the market has flea market quality clothes, and...More

Yes, the fruit & veggies are there everyday during the week. On saturdays it's more of a swap meet with clothes & household items. All the booths have pretty much the same stuff. We buy at Balognas they have organic. It's... More

No, it is at least an hour away. And, frankly, it is not worth the hour drive. The San Ignacio market is really more of a shopping spot for locals, with lots of fresh produce. The clothing I saw was made in China and... More
