The park is great for quiet walk and bird watching. The bird observation deck is located superbly for early morning observation. The swimming deck is also good for water birds such as egret, night heron, etc.. The trail is mostly empty and it has lots of White-collared Manakin on the east side.

An easy hike but not much to see. It took a while before we saw any wildlife and I hate to say this but this didn’t feel like anything. special.

Pros: - cheap entry
- lush vegetation and lots of animals (we saw a bunch of coatimundi)
- new bird deck and nice swimming area on the river (on the short loop)

Cons:
- the bridge to the big loop was blocked off because of disrepair, which the ranger didn't mention (but the creek was low, so we just jumped over it and did the loop anyway)
- one short section of the big loop stinks because of wastewater outflow down the riverbank
- the traffic from the highway is audible the entire time

I loved this park. Great hike and saw TONNES of birds and wildllife
if the manager Devin is there ask about wildlife -- he knows his stuff.
This park is WELL maintained and has some beautiful picnic areas.
The society that runs this park runs others in Belize and it is an organization worth supporting.
Had a wonderful morning here.

We enjoyed day hiking in Guanacaste National Park. Easy access to deep jungle, with birds, bugs, and assorted flora. We were just passing through -- not an end destination.

We enjoyed the walking trails. They were working on a new swimming platform as we were there. Looks like a great place to swim and cool off after the hike.

I recommend hiking at this park. It is easily accessible from Belmopan and provides a free experience in seeing Belize and the jungle.

dense jungle area with some animals if you are quiet and have time. We saw a massive iguana, snake (venomous), massive morpho butterflies,Agouti, lots of small lizards, hummingbirds and wood creepers. Devon the ranger there was a nice guy to speak to about what there is to see. Take your swimming stuff as the river is nice and cold and clear but difficult to enter from the park. bz$5 entry fee.

This was a good, quick, cheap stop on the way past Belmopan. It's a small park with a couple of easy walking trails. If you're lucky you might spot howler monkeys, birds, among other things.
