Unique is a word that is bandied about freely, but this experience really was like nothing else I have ever done before or since. Delving into a jungle cave, paddling, wading and swimming through water, scrambling over rocks and finally discovering beautiful rock formations and the haunting vision of a crystallised skeleton...if you are in (or even near) San Ignacio... This was an intense experience. I went crazy trying to find as much information about this as I could beforehand. This attraction is one of the best known and amazing in Belize. DO NOT SKIP THIS! Absolutely incredible. I can't believe the general public is allowed to experience this.

I went to ATM cave in April 2010 with my classmates on a school trip to Belize. We hiked about 1 1/2 hours through rivers and jungle, where I saw leaf cuter ants, wild pineapple and huge trees! We reached the cave and I was in awe! We explored the cave with our guide and we wore head lamps because... More

Not only archeaologically amazing but geologically fantastic-there was every kind of formation you could hope to see in a cave...my favorite was the formation of blue sparkles...it's approximately a 7k journey of walking, climbing, swimming, crawling & squeezing, and after reading many reviews I was afraid I wasn't in good enough physical shape for it (overweight, no stamina). And although... More

This is my 2nd time to the ATM this year and 2nd time with Carlos Panti and Carlos the Caveman Tours. The cave and the artifacts are amazing and to quote my friends the most beautiful cave they have ever been in. Let me talk about Carlos and his company. Professional, caring, ecologist, humorist, spelunker, and a man who loves... More

Wow! I mean really, wow! Our family is very well traveled and our kids kept saying this was the coolest thing they'd ever seen. When I was researching this, I thought the skeletal remains and the relics would be the best part. But getting back inside the cave was every bit as much of an amazing experience. The water is... ATM is an amazing experience- definitely not one to miss if visiting Belize. It is definitely a 'caving' experience so expect to do plenty of climbing, swimming, wading, and bumping into rocks. You do have to be in reasonably good fitness and a little brave. It is dark and wet (it's a cave...) but super awesome. Besides the Mayan ruins... More

My boyfriend and I booked a tour with "Carlos the Caveman" and he was honestly such an amazing guide. On the walk in he explained different plants and animals in the region. He clearly is an expert on the caves and we felt very safe going through the cave with him - beware the caves are very physically demanding and... More

If you've ever wanted to travel back in time and feel like Indiana Jones at the same time, this is the place for you! The ATM tour is adventurous, historical, and cultural all at the same time. My favorite part of Belize!

I would have to say this was the highlight of our trip to Belize. A MUST do. There is no other adventrue like it. We took our 9 and 8 year old and the guide was so helpful and considerate in ensuring their safety and entertainment. You have headlamps on your helpmet because it is pitch black, obviously. There climbing... More
