The Hummingbird Store in the Port of Belize is dishonest!! We bought a necklace - 5 minutes later it broke so we took it back - and the employees said "tough" - buy another one and laughed. You should avoid this store like the plague!!
Good shopping with nice silver stores. Found great bargains at several stores offering 50% off. This is a good location for shopping and taking time out for lunch and a cool drink.
Well laid out and clean.
A little crowded and tons of stores all with the same cheap items. Typical gift shops with the same things/different deals. Hair braiding, taxi services, etc. It kind of feels like being in a compound because it's gated. You can find taxi drivers at the...More
After arrival (from cruise) and waking around, we found a lot of people offering private tours a little outside of the wall of the Tourism Vilage.
It is a good option because prices can be half than tours offered on board.

The city of Belize is not doing well economically and it shows! Taxi fights, filthy streets, and a feeling of lack of safety could have really tarnished this port. The port and the excursions away from the city outside the port saved it!
Stopped here while on a cruise and while it is very touristy which can be a turn off, there were a few great places that really stood out for us, especially the pharmacy.
It's nice and safe to walk through with a million different shops...More

Very close - you are basically in the area when you arrive. Talk to the people around the ticket booth. Very helpful. Careful of all the people selling stuff. Most are good but keep your wits. You will be fine. Nice place.

Anyone can access the shopping port area. It does seem to blend in with the the other buildings though. There are several entrances/exits. We even shopped and had our hair braided in the bus unloading lot. I believe the easiest way to find it is to follow the ocean sidewalk and once you pass the colorful BELIZE sign, know that you aren't to far away. We did some shopping at the Zoo gift shop. The Rum was $6 a bottle (750ml) and quite tasty. Other than that the city tour didn't seem to highlight any other shopping areas. Hope this helps!
