Old cemetery very close to where we stayed. Most graves from the 1800's. Very good brochure at the entrance to identify with stories about many of the people buried here.

Small, shady cemetery. Pleasant walk. Our rental house had a walking tour brochure that told the history of many of the people buried there. Lots of Apalachicola history. Can not beat the price.

Apalachicola is an old city, and this cemetery proves it, like many old places in this part of Florida, the history is here if you look for it. Go see what's left before it all gets bulldozed over and highrise condos overlook the bay.

The mossy Oak and cedar trees mixed with the grave stones dating back the the first inhabitants of Apalachicola. What would have been (and is) the the hill above the town in it's day. Burial on high ground. Civil War burials. What a neat time...More

We love to visit old cemeteries. While this does have some very old graves, this cemetery needs some major TLC. It is in very bad repair. Almost all headstones broken, fencing around family plots broken. We've been to many older cemeteries that have been kept...More

We've been to lots of old cemeteries all over the south. This one has a nice feel with the large live oaks & Spanish moss. It looks like a movie set or giant Halloween spread. Lots of mangled, rusted fencing & broken/leaning tombstones. I bet...More

Spent a bit over 2 hours walking, reading, thinking, learning and often close to tears in this place. The graves of children - babies are everywhere telling you what life was really like in this town (or any town) in the late 19th and early...More

This is one of the oldest cemeteries, with graves in the early 1800's. Lots of statuary, lots of old family plots with ancient wrought iron fencing. Certainly worth a stroll.

One of the more interesting cemeteries we've visited. Lots of history, with tombstones dating to 1810. There is a walking tour pamphlet that shares the history of many of the folks who are buried here. Many Confederate States Army veterans, numerous folks lost at sea,...More
