Captain Jimmy is 5th generation in Apalachicola, so he knows every nook of the area. He knows what you will catch, where, and the right bait to use. He knows Apalach history, and will have you rolling in laughter with his stories. You will come back to the area for your next vacation just to see your new friend and... More

My husband and have been out with Captain Jimmy multiple times over the years. It's always a great time. He knows so much about the area and what the fish are up to. You are bound to have a ball if your fishing, shelling, or just want to take in the gorgeous scenery.

Captain Jimmy took our family on an amazing trip up the Appalachicola river to Fort Gadsen. We have 3 small children and he kept them entertained the entire time. He really took his time w us and even found us a great piece of driftwood. It was neat to see the river w someone who really knew the area. We... More

My husband, myself and 2 sons (ages 7&9) were lucky enough to take 2 tours with Backwater Guide Service during the week we visited St. George Island!! We have hired other people in years past to take us fishing but trust me....Captain Jimmy is the REAL DEAL! It was so much more than, "going fishing." Cap't Jimmy takes great pride... More

Jimmy was great with the two 11 year old boys we took fishing. Both boy's had limited fishing experience but Jimmy kept them fishing while my friend and I could keep fishing ourselves. We all had a great time. Thanks Jimmy!

I could never write enough wonderful things about Captain Jimmy!! Friends and I were staying on St.George Island and wanted a water tour, well what we got was a lifetime of memories. We were taken out to the Appalachacola River and to the Gulf of Mexico. These two places are absolutely breath taking in themselves, now add in the history... More

Can't say enough about our trip with Captain Jimmy! He went out of his way to make sure we were having a great time (how could we not...we're fishing). This was our first trip to Apalachicola and to fish with Jimmy. We will definitely be back and recommend him to anyone who comes this way. We caught more than we... More

Lousy day....windy, rough seas. Any Capt. Jimmy was at his best. First he had to hunt for bait fish. Then he took us around the bay, up the rivers, in search of Reds. As rough as it was, he never gave up. Moved us again and again, until the right time and right place and the fish starting hitting. We've... More

My family and I went on a sight seeing trip with Capt. Jimmy Maxwell up the beautiful Apalachicola River. Capt. Jimmy was very knowledgeable of the area and gave us quite a history lesson of Fort Gadsden. We were able to get out of the boat and walk in the Fort Gadsden State Park while learning the great history of... More
