It is really fun to bike to Basalt from Aspen. It's about 25 miles but most of it is downhill. I suggest I Mountain Bike because you do ride over some rocks but it's not bad. There are some quaint, good restaurants in Basalt. Then...More

Biking, hiking, or just taking a stroll, each part of the Rio Grande Trail is worth a visit. Meandering closer and further from the river, hearing the roaring of the water, you can see the way the geography has shaped the valley. The trail is...More

Wow this is quite the trail, more like a paved path, from Aspen to Glenwood. 40 some miles of scenic riding. Road bikes might struggle with the gravel portion. Very little shade most of the way. Bring lots of water and snacks. The airport business...More

You will pass by a few towns. We stopped and had lunch in Basalt- that is where I would check for hotels and B&Bs...kind of a mid point on the trail. We stopped for coffee @ Bonfire Roasters in Carbondale, another cute town.
