One of the most gorgeous trails in the Aspen area and part of the longer 4 pass loop trail. You start out at Maroon lake and gain 2500ft vertical so be ready to climb. Great flowers and gorgeous landscape. After 1.6 miles you reach Crater...More

The hiker works hard ascending the 3000+ foot altitude gain. One hikes over scree, through aspen and evergreen forests and up a breathtaking (literally) bowl with scattered wildflowers to the snow cornice at the pass. The view of Snowmass Peak and beyond is worth every...More

Buckskin Pass came highly recommended from a friend, and the hike did not disappoint. Definitely get an early start on it to get out ahead of the Maroon Bells crowd (and snag a good parking spot). There was a little snow up top in early...More

We were here to scout out the 4 pass loop. There was too much snow to do the loop. We made it about 1/2 mike from the top. Great views.

Buckskin Pass... Follow W Maroon Tr. past Maroon Lake. You go right, up the East Maroon/Snowmass Trail just before Crater Lake. The fall colors are super. Parts are steep.

Buckskin Pass is approximately a 3.8 mile hike over well defined trails, much of it above treeline, with 3150 vertical feet. Bring poles, they will seriously help with the rocky trail, as you move through several areas of scree that are remnants of avalanches, etc....More

We actually did the willow pass trail, but passed through buckskin pass too. The ascending trek was moderately difficult, but well worth it!! I don't have injured knees; however, my knees were aching by the time we got to willow pass, so I would recommend...More
