The ghost town is interesting one time. Very easy to get to. If you go to the end of the road you can almost drive up Castle Peak, but the road requires a real solid vehicle. I overheated a Jeep Wrangler. Fording a stream is...More

Hit this road at peak foliage season. What a treat. And it was also a treat to find Ashcroft Ghost Town. Hiked a beautiful trail, took lots of photos.

Drove out from Aspen to Ashcroft along the Castle Creek Road during the last weekend of September. The section of the road beyond Cathedral Lake Road (past Ashcroft) was closed at the time, but it was a nice view of the snow capped peaks at...More

We drove out to the ghost town Ashcroft and getting there was anticlimactic with little to see but the trip along this drive is worth the half hour each way. The scenery is spectacular in the pure Colorado way with vistas that mesmerize you with...More

The view from the beginning to the end of the road will leave your jaw on the floor. Incredible views out every window but wait until you dead end at montezuma rd. The view of the mountains this high up is incredible!

Took this road traveling to Ashcroft Ghost Town. As I was traveling in September, the foliage was spectacular and it has breathtaking views. Beware of the cyclists.

Depends where you go. There may be some color left in pockets here and there, but as of yesterday, the aspens around the town of Aspen were just past peak.

At the roundabout just outside Aspen, there are four exits: one sends you to Aspen, another to Aspen Highlands, another goes down valley, and the fourth option is Castle Creek Road. It is very easy to get there
