Both this and American Lake are close by on the road to Ashcroft. The entrance is past the American Lake parking lot just before the Pine creek cookhouse. The road to the parking lot is rutted and rocky- you don't need four wheel drive but...More

It was a long, strenuous hike with a lot of switchbacks and rough terrain but the lake was pretty cool to go see. I wouldn't do the hike again unless I was on better shape but I liked the lake, the stream we got to...More

Hikers beware this hike is steep and long, but it is worth it! You will have the opportunity to see many different kinds of terrain along this hike. The end of the hike is very steep but the magnificent view at the top of Cathedral...More

This hike appears to be a local favorite. An early morning start is recommended, as we met quite a few hikers in the late morning as we descended back to the car. Depending physical condition, it may be somewhat strenuous, especially in the upper section...More

This was a beautiful hike! I live at sea level and had a difficult time getting to the lake. There were many times that I thought I would turn back. We even saw a bear in the distance. With quite a few rest stops I...More

What a terrific hike.............but beware if you are a flatlander as I am. Trailhead is at 9,900 feet and trail rises 2,000 feet, mostly over 2.5 miles. So even if you are in shape the altitude can be an issue, particularly on the last eight...More

This is a six-mile hike that takes you to a spectacular alpine lake at 11,900'. It is not a novice hike whatsoever--not because it is technical, but because it is physically demanding. There is very little flat terrain, so you are either ascending or descending...More

This is a tough hike, the trail is fairly steep and constantly so in the early part. Then, you get to a relatively level expanse that is entirely made of rock that is quite beautiful to walk through. The kicker is at the end, where...More
