This is the smallest national wildlife refuge operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and it is found in the middle of Arvada. It is easy to access and many special events are held there. My only complaint is the limited hours that it...More

I live next door to this refuge so I am well aware of it. The area within the refuge is not manned and has suffered damage and vandalism recently. I have seen people fishing in the two ponds on more than one occassion. The potential here...More

This is a small refuge with ponds and a prairie section. It would be far better if it were open year-round. For birding, it's closed for a large chunk of migration as well as wintering waterfowl. Nice for a walk with interesting habitats. Has programs...More

It could've been the time of year because most things were dead, but the kids were frightened walking around and so was I. It didn't help that there was a man who was a bit creepy that we kept running into. It wasn't what I...More

The area in winter is such a monotone environment, but their was just enough sun and contrasts to enjoy our walk around the ponds, Two Ponds was pretty over grown, but we managed to get around the high brush, Walden Pond was open and easy...More

Thank you Bonnie Abbott and all the others who made this place safe for waterfowl and preserved this small slice of Arvada from development.

You wouldn't expect to find a National Wildlife Reserve right in the middle of an urban neighborhood, but that's exactly what this is. It is very unassuming and entering into it is very relaxing, watch some nature, take a walk, you won't regret it. It's...More

We took our grandchildren there last year and had a great time walking around, looking at the bugs, seeing the fish in the pond and just being together. It was our first time there. We hope to go again this year.
