Oak Grove Campground is a nice place to stop
Jan. 2019 • Couples
It's not a huge campground but there is plenty of privacy. The Camp Host is the nicest, most helpful guy we've run across in our travels.

For $15 we a nice spot with a fire pit. A water spigot was just steps away and there were flush toilets on the campground.

It was a great place to take a break, hike the Oak Grove Trail and just take in the beautiful scenery. Definitely do the hike. It's somewhat steep but the views are well worth it.

Another Fun Day in Cleveland National Forest
Jun. 2018 • Couples
We had a fun day driving through and seeing various parks in the area. Cleveland National Park is 460,000 acres (720 sq miles). There are also some nice areas for pretty desert views.

Beautiful in Spring
Apr. 2018 • Couples
We drove from Buena Park and enjoyed the views from the many pullovers. There were a lot of purple flower blooms and a variety of others. The road does wind, but we never picked up enough speed for long enough for me to notice the zig zag motion. Henshaw Scenic Vista is a park-like spot where you can get out and get a closer look at the plants after you get your fill of the wide open expanses.

Great Birding Area
Apr. 2018 • Friends
We birded Kitchen Creek, and along the Sunrise Highway. Great birds, and well maintained road. Well worth the time and effort to drive from Orange County.

Lovely Place for Views, Hiking - Cleveland National Forest
Mar. 2018 • Couples
We took a drive through the Cleveland National Forest. There is a good diversity of scenery from chaparrel to pines. The towns are cute to visit. There is currently (March 2018) some road construction going on but there was minimal delays. There is nice hikes one can take as well. We visited in Spring time on a sunny warm day. As such, we had a delightful day.

Great area for hiking
Apr. 2017
It was a very pleasant side trip from San Diego. Our goal was some pleasant hiking. We did Fry Creek, short Inaya, and Oak Grove. They varied in distance and level of difficulty but great scenery was delightful on each trail. The early April weather was perfect.

Beautiful scenery in March
Mar. 2017 • Family
Everything is lush and beautiful. The road winds significantly, so it you get car sick, be prepared.
We would recommend continuing on 74 to the top overlooking the lake. Stunning views.

Cleveland National Forest has variety
Feb. 2017 • Couples
Scenery ranges from chaparrel covered hillsides to tall pines depending on elevation ranging from 1000' to over 8000' with vistas into the desert. Many good hiking trails in the Laguna Mountain area. Waterfalls are seasonal but can be spectacular. In winter sledding is popular. WAtcvh for mountain lions and rattlesnakes. If hiking take plenty of water and tell someone where you are going. Sunrise Highway to 78 -JUlian and Ramona have shops, art galleries, wineries, and restaurants

We didn't even know we were in the national forest as it was a route our GPS took us on to our destination. What a find. Great places to relax, eat and hike will have us coming back soon Need to research all the things to do but is now on our list of places to get back to and think it is worth checking out if you are looking for a place to get away
