Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Gauley River is a special place and I really believe one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Reputable companies are hard to beat and they handle all the hard stuff. Guides are professional and know what they are doing. Personally wouldn't recommend rafting the Gauley as a first timer. Maybe get the New River under your belt first, progress to Lower Gauley and then the Upper Gauley. Be prepared to swim because the odds are good.

We really enjoyed interacting with the birds. Cody has an amazing bond with his birds of prey. His Eagle Owl and Harris Hawk were beautiful. He was also very informative and willing to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. A must do!

My husband and I had no idea how interesting this would be! We learned about owls, hawks, eagles and falcons - their keen sense of sight and the fact that everything they do is food-driven. Our instructor was named Cody, and he was great!! I'd definitely recommend this for families as well. You're able to have a hawk sit on your arm and take pictures, which was fun.

We had the best time at the aerial adventure course! Our guides, Courtney and Garrett, are true professionals. They made the experience fun and safe, and made sure we had a full and challenging experience. Anyone choosing this course will not be disappointed!

The Gauley River offers so much. Rails to trails. White water. Hiking. Horse back riding. It’s a beautiful river.

I've done Nantahala, Ocoee, Chatooga, Cheoah, Pigeon Forge and OMG Gauley is my new favorite! Such a blast! Just a really fun river. The upper river has higher quicker rapids, lower spread apart, but man those rapids are just as fun. I did marathon with Adventures on the Gorge, 26 miles of river. Had an absolute blast!!! Also, the lunch provided was a feast and they made a campfire with us. I rafted the last day you can go in October and with wetsuit and jacket I was only cold a couple of times.

Gauley River NPS was a gorgeous spot to visit in WV. There's a lot of history in this area which has Gauley River designated as a part of the National Park service. We will come back when it's warmer so we can take advantage of all that this area has to offer -kayaking, canoeing, and white water rafting. Definitely plan to spend a couple of days exploring the area. It was very cool!
