Politics and Prose is the most perfect bookstore that ever existed. I'd been wanting to visit for years, but was never in town long enough or had the time. I made the time this time around and I am so glad I did! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the glorious smell of coffee and books greets you when... More

Politics and prose is a full service bookstore with lots of DC centric items. It is as fun for the books as the customers. The President was a customer, but don't expect to see him. We visited in December '16, on a member sale day, so it was a madhouse, and we got some Christmas presents. It is right down... More

Politics and Prose is my home away from home in the US. Like a homing pigeon I find myself heading there whenever I'm in the city, even for a short time. It's a storied place so I won't rehearse all the reasons to go there. But if you do like reading, the staff are knowledgeable and unobtrusive. There's a great... More

This is my favorite coffee shop. They recently redid the interiors. Its a great placed to sit and work or just read the paper like I do. Order a cortado (not on the menu) the best I have had!

This place is neat. They have a lot of neat gifts, a good book selection, and a quaint coffee shop downstairs. I'm glad I got to stop in here on my vacation to DC. The parking can be hectic, as with every place in that town. So be ready for that.

Needed a place to unwind after a 6 hr drive and looking at condos in the Cathedral Heights area of Washington DC. This is a wonderful stop for coffee, beer, or wine. Very casual and comfortable. Good cold brew coffee too!

Came to pick up some books and surprise; I had a Quinoa moment at Politics and Prose. I never liked Quinoa or the current Quinoa craze but hay, the Quinoa bowl looked good at the coffee house so we ordered one each for lunch and WOW-it was damn good. The butter nut squash with cranberries and pecans plus maple dressing... More

Have been coming for years. Used to be on their mailing list for events. If you want a book with meat on it. Politics, international affairs, serious literature..... this is your place. Friends have offered readings in the past and we've walked into signings and presentations. When my college professor comes to town, we go... Want to think about the... More

Politics and Prose is a classic. Fantastic selections and very knowledgeable staff. It is a good place to browse or to attend one of their readings or book signings. The remodeled coffee house (and wine bar) on the ground floor is bright, comfortable and popular. It is operated by the folks at Little Red Fox a few doors away.
