Needs to provide information as well as they provide transportation
Jun. 2021
The kiosk dispensing the Metro passes (cards) said that our trip would cost $2.00, so we got cards with $4.00 for a round trip. We went through one turnstile to enter, then a second turnstile to exit -- which used $2.00 each. The one-way trip cost $4.00. The cost is not the issue. I regret the time it took to go through the routine twice. Also, I wish there were signs pointing to the exit for the National Zoo, for example, in addition to the signs showing street names. Other than the communication, our Metro experiences have always been excellent! (Well, there was the one time around 2010 when there was a power outage and the escalators weren't working... but that's not the fault of the Metro system...!)

Metro System
Jun. 2021
King Station to downtown DC was relatively easy and avoided the need to drive. Bought a 1 day pass which worked fine for us especially since pass was required for in/out.

Disrespectful idiot bus drivers
Jun. 2021
I had a horrible experience today with 2 different ignorant and punk-ass bus drivers who chose to yell at me (unprovoked), and grossly disrespect me for no reason. I was not aware that Metro began charging fare again because they had a public ride free due to the pandemic. Instead of informing me of the changes when I boarded the bus, the driver yelled at me and acted like a fool, what he did not know was that if he had attempted to physically assault me as he was probably thinking of, He would have ended up with many broken bones, as I am a seasoned martial artist and have knowledge of countering attacks in self-defense. The behavior from both drivers is unacceptable, and I made a complaint to Metro in regards. When you hear the stories of bus drivers being attacked by passengers, 9 times out of 10 the drivers provoked the attacks. These two idiots that I dealt with today might not be so lucky the next time they come off as punks and badasses to the public.

Beware of potential harm on Metro these days!
Jul. 2020
WATCH OUT FOR HARASSMENT/POTENTIAL HARM ON METRO!!!!!!
These days due to the pandemic, Metro ridership is way down and many of those that travel on Metro aren't upstanding citizens.

Unprovoked and out of the blue, I was minding my own business on a station platform when I was threatened with bodily harm by a BLM individual. It happened on a week day at 9:30 AM. It was a racial incident but fortunately nothing physically happened. I reported it to the Transit Police. There was not much they could do as the individual ran off. I was riding Metro to/from work.

Avoid those Metro trains that go into North East and South East DC.

I regularly use Metro and I've seen an uptick in "incidents" due to the racial unrest.

Seeing these behavioral instructions on the automated screens where literally a man is always inconveniencing a woman. I wonder who was in charge of this project....

BEST and CHEAPEST WAY to visit DC attractions
Jan. 2020
With the weather being warm on a January Saturday ( in the 60's degree) I decided to be a tourist again in Washington, DC. The BEST and CHEAPEST way to visit tourist attractions is by Metro Subway System, complemented by buses and walking!

Fares are cheaper on weekends and parking is FREE! Today, January 11, 2020, I visited 20 attractions and restaurants using Metro and DC Circulator Bus just for $6.00 plus some walking. Just needed a little planning to achieve this goal!

Loved the Metro! Best way to get around DC and surrounding area! Great Staff!
Dec. 2019
This was our first time in Washington DC. We stayed in Alexandria VA and after driving to the National Zoo we asked at the hotel desk how else there was to get around DC. The hotel shuttle took us to Huntington Station and dropped us off. We had no idea what we were doing. We went to the ticket counter and told the guys we were new to this and expected an eye roll and a few instructions from their side of the cage. NOPE! They were AWESOME! One of the guys came out gave us a station map and showed us how to navigate with it. Then showed us how to use the ticket vending machine and gave us options on daily and weekly passes. He was so nice! We were a bit intimidated at first but the Metros are clean and quick and easy to navigate and inexpensive we rode round trip for less than $20 from Huntington Station To Union Station for 2 people. By far the best way we found to get around the DC area! Thank You!

Multi day pass
Dec. 2019
Clean, efficient and quiet (not like Boston)
DC can be quiet busy. I highly recommend getting a multi day pass for your visit. Last thing you need is to be fussing with a ticket machine with a few dozen people waiting for you to figure it out. They work for both the trains and busses.

Great transport system but needs to be be more informative
Nov. 2019
Metro is great as are metro buses and cheap circulator buses. But it is not obvious when you arrive what your options are. Need more information for tourists. EG it is better to get a card and add value to it than buy a one day card. Also one day cards are not 24 hours which is a bit of
a con.
