Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There seems to be confusion in the reviews. The original Academy building, which is beautiful, is at 2101 Constitution Ave NW and the Einstein statue/tribute is out front on the corner of 22nd and Constitution. A variety of forums and colloquia are held at that location as well as assemblies for the Academies and other meetings. A Foucault pendulum is in the great hall at this location. I have been fortunate to have been here for a meeting in December and a colloquium in March and many other meetings in the past. The Academy also hosts a number of cultural programs for the public (see their website for programs).
A newer Academies building is indeed at 500 Fifth St NW - it is called the Keck Building.

This review is for the monument in front of the NAS building. It is easily my favorite DC monument. It is a large sculpture of Albert. If you stand in a certain place and look at him, then talk, it reverberates back to your ears, sounding like an echo. Nowhere does it describe this, but it is awesome.

I've walked past the National Academy of Sciences building several times without giving it a second look until today. I’ve also noticed the bronze statue of Albert Einstein, which sits on the corner. Today, I actually stopped to see the statue and visit the building. It is truly a fascinating building, especially the Entry Foyer. It is beyond description. The workmanship is amazing. To describe everything would take days. This is a must see when you are in Washington, DC.

Very near the State Department, this stately building has little tourist pressure and offers science-themed galleries and a shady restful garden. The architecture alone is worth a visit. It reminds me of the Nobel museum in Stockholm.

I was lucky enough to have a meeting there and I was amazed by the building; both the interior and the exterior. Everything was so nicely designed, taking into consideration the traditional style and putting some really interesting modern touches.
The Auditorium was also really convenient and can hold large audiences; however, the lack of power outlets (there were only a few available every now and then) was a limiting factor if you are using a power-hungry laptop for keeping notes, tweeting etc.

I have been at the National Academies for many meetings and convocations, usually in the Fred Kavli Auditorium. It is a beautiful building. The Great Hall is the center of the building. Its gorgeous dome and side elements are decorated with images from the history of science. They are beautiful. The building contains a members' room intended as a reading room for members of the Academy, a board room, conference rooms and galleries. One of the galleries is for exhibits on the work of the Academy and another for showings of the relationship between science and art. Other pieces from the Academies' art collection are on display through the building The building also is the location for the Cultural Programs of the National Academies, which are rich events at the intersections of art, music and science. Outside the building are gardens and the remarkable and wonderful statue of Einstein. The statue alone is worth a visit.
The Academies have a long and rich history of serving the country since the time of its founder, Abraham Lincoln. The esteemed members of the Academies are recognized for their work seeking truths about our natural world and the human condition.

This is a very impressive academy, I learned that it was founded by President Lincoln when the US started building the ironclad ships. He wanted an objective panel of professionals to work with in building these ships. They have a nice little gift shop as well.

We saw the National Academy of Sciences building when we came to see the Albert Einstein Memorial. The building is not the most impressive structure in Washington, D.C., but as an engineer I can appreciate more utilitarian buildings. The disappointing part was the amount of litter and overflowing garbage cans around the building particularly near the Einstein Memorial. It really detracts from the premises.

Free, with limited things to see. Worth checking out Albert, the beautiful old buildng and the art displays. A twenty minute stop, 30 tops. Cafeteria in basement with limited hours is a place to catch you breath and get a drink. Few visitors. It holds meetings of the National Academy.

Went by to take a pic out front the NAS of the Einstein Memorial leading up to the science march and we honestly was only going to pop in to use the facilities. Instead we stayed, admiring the architecture, paintings, and the overall beautiful building and I'm so glad we did!
Everyone who worked there was extremely friendly and hospitable, and they even provided snacks and drinks to those of us escaping the cold and the rain. I would highly recommend, esp if they have a lecture! Don't miss this little gem off the beaten path!

I have not parked at the Academy Building on Constitution Ave. There is some street parking in the area, but I do not know whether it is possible to park in the garage under the building as a visitor. I would contact the Academies directly. Metro, a cab or ride share services are other options.
