This church stands out in the neighborhood and offers some nice photos. I noticed it because it was close to the hotel I stayed at otherwise I would not have gone out of my way to find.

What caught our attention was the deep red color and second was that it didn’t have the Greek architecture so it wasn’t a Federal building. Then we figured out it was a church. I thought for a second it was a Catholic Church. Then we read the sign, Calvary Baptist Church. I wanted to go in but I didn’t see... More

Beautiful red brick church in Penn quarter. It has a lot of history and you should read about it before visiting because it improves the experience significantly. It was designed by the same architect that designed a number of other famous landmarks in DC so that is why it looks familiar when you first see it.

This looks more like a cathedral than a Baptist church, but the building itself doesn't matter to the faith. It's worth seeing because it's right downtown!

We walked past this church whilst wandering down from Chinatown to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum but we didn't actually venture inside. The exterior is a deep blood red colour and it looks quite impressive from the outside. Unfortunately the sun was in the wrong position for good photos.
